Strongman Kolín - Results and reportage

On St. Wenceslas Day, September 28, 2025, a perfectly prepared and well thought out race took place in Cologne. The organizer Jiří Dejmal, a professional strongman, who is behind all the Cologne competitions in the last 10 years, prepared a spectator treat at the end of the season in the form of pairs races. There was always one professional and one amateur in a pair. The spectators could enjoy a great event, which is not just seen. The weather turned out absolutely fabulous, and several hundred fans turned out as well. A total of eleven pairs competed on the Cologne square to show their strength in these unique disciplines:

• Double Loglift
• Super Yoke + Frame
• Sandbag + Husafel + Farmers Walk
• Car Hold
• Atlas Stones

Loglift

An amazing loglift about 3 meters long that the competitors lifted together. A spectacular discipline, but one that can be very dangerous. Synchronisation is important. Those who had the opportunity to try it beforehand were not disappointed. Split second place went to 3 pairs - Petr Toman and Damián Polidar, Pavel Zadražil and Eda Školoud and Jirka Dejmal and Martin Szabo, all of them managed 4 repetitions. The winner of the discipline was Patrik Kohout and Ondra Červený, they did 5 repetitions. Unfortunately Radek Pečta, who was competing with Emil Barták, got injured during the discipline and decided to finish the race even at the cost of great pain.

Yoke + Ohrada

Normally I would have called it a medley, but here the competitors divided each part, moreover, if one of them reached at least half of the fifteen-meter starting track, they could take turns. The super yoke weighed 330 kg and the corral 400 kg, but jerks were allowed on the corral. Third place Zdenek Vávra and Tomas Zeman for a great time of 38.68 seconds. Second place Štěpán and Václav Bystřinec, when Štěpán with a 400 kg fence whizzed through the track in an almost athletic sprint like nothing. Their time was 31,62 seconds. The fastest was the duo Dejmal, Szabo, who covered the track in a fantastic 25.26 seconds.

Pytel + Husafel + Kufry

Again a relay, but with different weights, sack 120 kg, Husafel 120 kg and suitcases 162 kg each. The competitors were free to say what and who would carry what, it was clear that one would go 2x. Only 3 pairs made it to the finish line. Unfortunately, Zdeněk Vávra was injured on the suitcases, but he also finished the race... Third place went to the Bystřinec brothers with a time of 47,56 seconds. The second place went to Pavel Zadražil and Eda Školoud with a time of 45,52 seconds. The winners of the discipline were the duo Dejmal, Szabo with a time of 41.06 seconds.

Car possession

A beautiful discipline that is similar to Hercules Hold. The racer must hold the cars on the tilted platform for as long as possible. First the amateurs held, then the professionals and the time of the pairs was added up. The final total determined the overall standings for the event. Third place with a fantastic total of 64.5 seconds was taken by Jakub Navrátil and Marek Tykva. Second place, despite the injury, was taken by Zdenek Vávra and Tomas Zeman with their time of 66.44. Surprising victory was taken by brothers Filip and Adam Zajicek, not only were they the lightest pair far and wide, but Adam is only 16 years old. Their final time of 67.56 is a feat from another planet.

Atlas stone

The end of the race belonged to five concrete balls weighing between 10 and 180 kg. Third place for unloading all the balls went to Zdenek Vávra and Tomáš Zeman with a time of 42.58 seconds. The second place went to Štěpán and Václav Bystřinec with a time of 31.37 seconds. The Zajíček brothers took the victory again, stacking the stones in an incredible 28.68 seconds.

The race was a very interesting spectacle, moreover in a great and sunny weather, when it was pleasantly warm but not hot. The date, the weather and the idea were all bravura and it was good fun at the end of the season even for the season-ruined strongmen. Seeing the double loglift live was a real treat. Jirka Dejmal from Hero Gym Kutná Hora and Čáslav with his team prepared great and very entertaining competitions to lighten up. I think the spectators had a great time and cheered.
