23.11.2019 GOLEM BCROSS GAMES 4
Saturday's day belonged to all the powerlifters. Vasek Mráz and Jirka Vytiska decided to organize the fourth race in the order for newcomers and those who are starting with strongman sport.
Everything took place in BcrossGym in Budejovice, where there are great conditions for such events. See for yourself how many of us gathered there.
Five disciplines awaited the competitors. We are glad that there was great interest in the races. We had to stop registration at 70 registrations.
The competitors came to us from all parts of our country, the longest way to us some of them even from Trnava.
There were exactly 62 of us on race day in three categories 80 |100 | OPEN. Between 8-10h was weighing and registration. About 20 competitors were so excited that they arrived even before the receptionist opened the gym :D
Jirka then gave a briefing where they went through the standards of the exercises with the evaluation of the disciplines. Then a moment to warm up and it was straight to the royal discipline!
Loglift couldn't be missing. This time it was the heaviest weight according to the schedule.
Everything was on two stations. There were two main judges, me and Jirka. We were strict and uncompromising.
To the right hand we had our dear halves, who wrote down the results.
We saw some really great performances, and some individuals had surprisingly good techniques.
Straight to the lightest category, where Ondra Šoukal and Jarda Galle escaped to the last weights, who went from 90 kg only together. For a body weight of 80kg it's very good. In the end, even though Jarda moved his PR by 10kg, his performance was not enough and he fell 5kg short of Ondra Š. with 110kg!
Some competitors even held a loglift in their hand for the first time.
The under 100kg category was the most packed, it's always a very busy category and it was really something to watch.
Here Fousek, Trhal, Srb and Bohac broke away, where all of them got over the 115kg limit. The next weight was 120kg. There only Radek Srb successfully heard the "goodlift".
The OPEN category started at 90kg. They had the hardest time as they had the least rest between attempts. It was no problem for most of them, they kept warm and concentrated beautifully. Here the best acquainted with the loglift were Béďa Jochim and Vašek Maňák, who successfully got a great 135kg over their heads.
Then they decided to load 10kg more. Here everyone was missing a small piece and the attempt was invalid for everyone. They rightly shared the divisional place in this discipline.
Honza Krasinský also came to watch the competition.
Thanks to this server for cooperating with us, besides the prizes they provided 5 packs of rabbit blood for the competitors.
In the second discipline the competitors were waiting for deadlifts - deadlift medley. Three different axes with differently loaded weights, which gradually escalated.
It was a combination of a fat axle, a normal axle and a trapbar. It was all about time, and every tenth of a second counted.
The deadlift is one of the most popular exercises and some competitors found the set weights no problem.
We are glad that even beginner competitors, who maybe didn't reach the final weight, struggled with it. It's all about trying and beating yourself first and foremost!
Here again Jarda Gall and Ondra Šoukal were incredibly close to one hundredth of a second with 6,81s and the fight for the first place in the category up to 80kg was clear.
In the U100 category every second was crucial and could have moved you 6 places ahead. Radek Srb was the best here again, with Dvořák and Fousek on his heels.
Of course, the heaviest weight had the highest weights and only half of them managed to lift the last barbell. Dominic Jaroš was the one who had the most pull here, winning by two seconds.
The middle discipline tested shoulder strength and repositioning training. Again a medley, this time from the ground overhead. Beer keg, fat axle and loglit.
That was the pressure medley setup. Already the first mentioned beer keg made about a third of the competitors cross the budget.
The warehouse people at the brewery would probably have been watching and maybe even approached some of the competitors who hadn't had the slightest problem with the keg.
Overall, this event was harder and only 9 competitors from all categories made the last weight.
Michal Duda also joined the fight for the U80 crate, taking 3rd place here. Šoukal finished this discipline with a lead, followed by Gall.
Radek Srb took the first place in 100vce. Second place went to Fousek and third to Michal Boháč.
Only Vasek Maňák and Béďa Jochim finished the OPEN category. Vasek even with a time of 20,79 and deservedly took the first place.
The fourth discipline was kept secret until the last day. We only published the hercules hold.
It's holding up. Some columns in the uprights, some objects in the forearms.
We chose to hold the disc in the forearm, where the butt and shoulder blades had to lean against the wall.
As soon as the disc dropped below horizontal, the competitor was given a warning and the next time the time was tracked.
80kg - 10kg | 100kg - 15kg | OPEN 20kg
They tried it a couple of times and we went for it.
Ondra Šoukal set the record for the whole games with a time of over 122s, showing that he is really well prepared. The heavier categories were a bit more difficult with the increasing weight.
Shy, Serb and Dvorak lasted over a minute. However, Radek lasted the longest and could enjoy his fourth victory.
The Open category was 20kg and nobody managed to get over 1 minute.
Lukáš Rešl stayed just 2s behind Béda Jochim, who scored his second victory with a time of 56s.
The icing on the cake was the tire roll, which was 6 repetitions with a time limit of 1 minute.
It weighed as follows:
U80 - 250kg | U100 - 380kg | OPEN 450kg
Here it was a case to decide and every turn could help.
In the lightest category, almost everyone finished.
This discipline was also the end of our competition day. Pro strongman Jirka Vytiska turned the tyre a few more times in an exhibition, and with great encouragement from the audience he completed six turns in under 25 seconds.
Everything ran according to schedule. During the race we had a Donut with You booth on site and they prepared great donuts. Food was also provided and the steaks with Hranclema with you energized absolutely everyone.
This is how the top six finishers from all categories turned out.
There were some really skilled strongmen among the competitors. If they work hard, we'll hear about them here again. The youngest competitor Vítek Lorenc recently celebrated only 16 years of age, his best performance was loglift, where he lifted 90kg.
Another great competitor was Michal Bohac, who went straight to U100 with his 80kg weight. He showed great performances there, if he had better time on deadlifts, he could have finished on the box.
Thanks to all the helpers and our girls for a great job. The whole race was injury free and we hope you all enjoyed it and we will see you again after the new year.
Keep up the good work and have a great day, bye.
