New York Pro 2022 - Blessing Awodibu rides the winning wave!

On Saturday, May 21, another edition of the prestigious New York Pro took place overseas, hosted by Jim Manion's IFBB Professional League head judge Steve Weinberger. There were fights for the win and a nomination for the 2022 Olympia Weekend in both of the main men's categories, both the heavyweights and their lighter counterparts with a maximum weight limit of 212 pounds.

We'll find out how the whole competition unfolded, and more importantly how it turned out, in the following lines.

Open Category

Eleven fighters presented themselves before the judges in this category, some of whom had already competed at the Indy Pro 2022 last weekend. They were Blessing Awodibu, who was pumped up by his debut triumph, Max Charles, Luis Rodriguez, Dorian Haywood and of course our very own Slavoj Bednar.

Blessing Awodibu was considered to be the main favourite to win, as he considered this competition to be the highlight of the spring season, and a win was all he would settle for!

With the winner of the aforementioned Indy Pro 2022 taking to the podium, and no significant opponent beside him, it was more than likely from the start of the competition that he would notch up his second professional win in a row here.

This was confirmed immediately in the first semi-final comparison, in which the judges chose him, and he was joined by the five of Max Charles, Luis Rodriguez, Theo Leguerrier, Emir Omeragic and Andrea Presti.

There was simply nothing to decide here! Blessing once again arrived in superb form, offering powerful, sculpted and prefectly sculpted muscles, his narrow waist accentuated by an excellent "X" shaped torso. His posing was also excellent here, absolutely precise, and he showed that nothing can just derail him. In fact, when the music stopped during his free set, he ignored this fact and continued to perform one pose after another!
The victory was undisputedly his!

After the results were announced, he put on quite a show. Last year's winner Nick Walker came to congratulate him on his victory. Blessing was not lazy, took the microphone and immediately let it be heard that he and only he is the king of New York, because Nick, although he won this competition last year, did so in Tampa, and that simply does not count!
He is therefore looking forward to the Olympia in December, where he intends to "kick Nick's ass", just as he kicked some ass in New York!
And in order to give Nick a "fuck you", he didn't let him react in any way, and just pushed him away from the microphone. Showing that he's a comedian through and through.

Max Charles and Andrea Presti fought for the second place. Although Max competed a bit more closely here than in Indianopolis, and was second after the semifinals, he had to settle for third place, just like a week ago.

Second was therefore Andrea Presti, who has managed to work significantly on his lower body since last season, losing out to a more balanced upper half.

Fourth place was held from start to finish by the symmetrical Theo Leguerrier.

Luis Rodriguez managed to break into the top 5, albeit by the skin of his teeth. He dropped one place compared to last weekend, and is still far from the form he raced last year, which led him to an excellent 8th place at Mr. Olympia 2021. This year, Luis' participation in this spectacular show is not looking good at all!

A very respectable 8th place, just like at Indy Pro 2022, was won by Czech pro Slavoj Bednar. The Extrifit team member, who has once again fine-tuned his form for life here, commented on his performance by saying:

I took 8th place from the New York PRO, but I am satisfied! I'm sure the judges already know that they have to count on us...and we haven't come in the best form yet, although it was definitely the best up to this point ! But it's up to each of us how willing and even able we are to step out of our comfort zone, to fight, to go for what we want! It's not just in bodybuilding...that's what life is all about! Jay Cutler asked me how I feel after a competition. What was it like. We talked for about a quarter of an hour about what our life was like, what bodybuilding was like 20 years ago when he was rising up as one of the biggest stars ever! He was and is great! And these are all the bits and pieces that together provide the basis for further motivation! I got it! I'm going home, I'm excited and in 14 days... TORONTO PRO SUPERSHOW!

Categories up to 212 pounds

Among the fighters with a maximum weight limit of 212 pounds, of which there were ten on the podium, Noel Adame, the second man at last weekend's Indy Pro 2022, was one of the more significant favorites.

As the competition itself showed, he was very ably seconded by Jang Sung Yeop, who was clearly one of the most symmetrical fighters on the podium. When he added to that a very decent posing, Noel had an excellent opponent in the fight for the championship.

However, as expected, Noel Adame, who offered a more mature, more powerful and more separated musculature, really enjoyed his third professional victory.

Jang Sung Yeop thus took a very respectable second place and showed that he is simply a force to be reckoned with in this category!

Third place went to Abdullah Al Saif who can benefit from a very well put together physique. Moreover, he presented himself in better form here than he did last weekend in Indianopolis, so third place rightfully belongs to him!
