New York Pro 2021 - Nick Walker wins his debut triumph!
Author: Florida was the site of the New York Pro competition for the second year in a row on Saturday, May 15. Both the heavyweights and their counterparts in the 212lb category got their turn on the stage.
We'll take a look below, via a few sentences, videos and photos, at how this second contest of this season's Jim Manion IFBB Professional League went.
Open Category
Only ten fighters competed among the heavyweights. The reason for such a small turnout is mainly due to complications associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, which severely restricts representatives from Schengen area countries from traveling to the USA!
Luis Rodriguez, who has already participated in the most prestigious bodybuilding contest in the world, Mr. Olympia, was the most obvious candidate for the winner, and last weekend he even scored his first victory in Indianopolis!
But besides him, there were other fighters on stage, especially the trio of Nick Walker, Hassan Mostafa and Dorian Haywood, who didn't want to give Luis anything for free! Thanks to this foursome, the competition was full of attractive fights!
It is no wonder that the above mentioned foursome of Luis Rodriguez, Nick Walker, Hassan Mostafa and Dorian Haywood presented themselves immediately in the first semi-final comparison at the request of the judges.
From the first moments it was obvious that the winner would be decided between the pair Rodriguez - Walker.
Although Luis offered a slightly better physique, and presented himself on stage in better shape than during his victorious campaign at the Indy Pro, Nick was noticeably more powerful! In addition, Luis failed to position his broad back muscles from the back during the interplay, which, quite possibly, cost him the victory!
During the free set Luis did show the wide muscle back position from the back, several times, but it was obviously too late, and the winner was decided by then!
Nick Walker enjoyed his first professional victory in his second start among the elite!
He offered a fantastic double biceps from behind and a breathtaking most muscular pose. He may have put on "only" 2.5 kilos of muscle since his London pro debut at Wings of Strength Chicago 2020, but he was able to work on his overall symmetry for it, offering a fuller chest, a significantly wider and deeper back, and fuller quadriceps here.
As he and coach Matt Jansen stated in the interview, they had no backup plan, and the New York Pro was the only competition where they would be playing for everything, earning Nick the right to directly compete in the 2021 Mr. Olympia!
That left the second place spot to 2021 Indy Pro champion Luis Rodriguez. The latter was obviously hungry for a triumph from the New York Pro, which is considered a prestigious event, but unfortunately had to bow to the qualities of his opponent.
We can already look forward to their next clash, which will take place at the aforementioned Olympia!
Third place went to Hassan Mostafa. He is one of the young, promising competitors who already have a lot of muscle. Unfortunately for him, however, he is losing quite significantly in terms of symmetry, which is hard to work on.
It begs the question of whether Hassan will also participate in the California Pro competition on May 29. It depends on how long his visa is issued for.
Taking fourth place, as he did a week ago at the 2021 Indy Pro, was Dorian Haywood. He was able to control his abs better compared to his last performance, and looked much more balanced.
The last man to make it into the Top 5 was the second man to make it through to the Indy Pro 2021, Mohamed El Emam. He, although competing here at a weight of "only" 106 kilograms, offered plenty of muscle mass complemented by very decent sculpting. With this result, he has once again secured the first place in the qualification ranking for Mr. Olympia 2021.
Among the other fighters, let's mention Blessing Awodibu, who took 6th place here. While he looked much more balanced on the podium than he did a week ago in his debut at the already mentioned Indy Pro 2021, he was not as sharp. Shortly after the competition, he checked out of the California Pro 2021, and after a short break, he'll get to work on his exterior.

Also in the under 212 pound division were ten fighters, and there was a battle for the win between the pair of Nathan Epler and John Jewett, the second and third men in the 2021 Indy Pro.
It was these two, still with the pair of Noel Adame and Derik Oslan, who were given space immediately in the first semi-final comparison, posing in the middle of the line. As both presented the same form as they did last weekend, they split their placings accordingly.
Nathan Epler was able to celebrate his first professional victory, scoring only his second start among the elite! Here he was able to offer full, hard and rounded muscles, moreover he looked much fresher.
Second place went to John Jewett, who was a bit flat here too, and also too light, which lost a lot of detail!
Third place went to Noel Adame, who had some really excellent sculpting, which doesn't change the fact that his physique is not one of the best!
Fourth place was taken by Derik Oslan, a home fighter with a very decent physique and full muscles.
The top 5 was closed by Justin Randall, who was only 157 cm tall and looked massive for his height.
