"I managed to get a great third place," Tkadlcik reviews the Arnold Classic Sevilla 2022

During the third weekend of September, another competition took place under the title of Arnold Classic, namely Arnold Classic Sevilla 2022. This competition was attended by the Czech strongman team, which also included the Czech strongman who competes in the division up to 105kg - Jiri Tkadlcik. He returned to the competition boards after a long break. His comeback was a great one, as he brought back a great third place from Seville and you can see in this interview how he liked the competitions and how he evaluates his overall performance.

Hi Jirka, first of all I would like to congratulate you on your third place at the Arnold Classic Sevilla 2022.

Hi, thank you very much for your congratulations. I'm very happy that the competition turned out like that.

You attended a training camp in Lithuania with Savickas before the race. Did Žydrūnas invite you to join him, or did the training sessions originate from your initiative?

It wasn't exactly a training camp. It was a pairs race in the open category, which we went to more for fun. Then, as a bonus, there was a training session with Savickas.

How did the training sessions go and what was the main focus?

There was only one training session with him. Otherwise we had two races that weekend, which was really good. I even managed to race against Savickas, who of course beat me. But for me, it was an experience to see his tremendous power in person. I Despite the fact that he looks like he no longer has the physique, he actually does, and a big one at that... At the competitions he could throw a 180kg rock in 2 minutes about 9-10 times over 140cm, which is a great feat.

What did you learn from "Big Z"?

You can learn from him in all disciplines. By the way, he has a good "mineset". He told me that in the world he doesn't care anymore how he finishes, but he still wants to win in Lithuania.

After the camp you went to the AC. Sevilla 2022. What were your goals for this race?

I went to Sevilla with the ambition to win, as my back had healed and I knew I would have to test it in a tougher test, which was this race. The disciplines were not ideal, but I still managed to get a great third place.

What were the disciplines at the races and how did you do in them?

1st discipline was yoke with 360kg. In this discipline I was second with a time of 11sec.

The 2nd discipline was loglift with 130kg. In a minute we had to do as many reps as possible, I managed a total of 5. In the end I was second place

The 3rd discipline was 130kg trunks over 40m with a spin. Here I was fifth.

The 4th to last discipline was lifting 90kg single arm. I was third in this discipline.

The 5th last discipline was a 380kg tire rotation. I managed to do 6 turns.

How did the competition go and how did you like it?

I liked the race overall. It was at a very fast pace - the whole race was done in 140minutes, which in 36degrees is a big yummy.

Are you happy with third place or could you have done better?

Otherwise I was happy with my performance. It could have been better on the single-handed. I didn't get the fourth rep there, but it still wouldn't have made a difference.

What's your next competition?

Now the plan is Litovel, which is the World Cup and there will be really nice weights. It will be my sixth competition in September. So I'm looking forward to it because I've had a nice race.

Jirka, thank you very much for the interview, have a nice day and good luck.

I would like to thank everyone for their support. Special thanks to Pep Kadeřábek and Martin Zaremba. I would also like to point out that the Czech Strongman team consisted of nine competitors. Tomáš Osička did the best in the 95tka, who dominated his category. I am happy that during my sporting career Czechs have been conquering the Arnolds like I did in 2015. It's a great feeling and I'm happy to be helping them
