Hafthor Björnsson almost got injured when a 340kg wasp fell on him!
Last August, one of the best stongman in the world, Hafthor Bjornsson, announced the end of his career. He made the announcement at Iceland's Strongest Man 2020, which was the last competition of his career. At the same time, he won this domestic competition and thus retired with another valuable victory.
He expressed his feelings on social media at the time as follows:
"Iceland's strongest man for the tenth time in a row. 6 disciplines, 6 wins. Great way to end my strongman career. Just starting another journey and I'm excited. It's been a great time in the strongman sport, but I've decided to take a long break. I may never come back, but never say never. I'm 31 years old and I might come back in a few years if my heart desires. Right now my heart is telling me I need to be healthy for may family and do the best for them."
Hafthor, however, made another appearance at the Record Breakers Rogue Invitational, held Oct. 30 at Dell Diamond Stadium in Austin, Texas. Bjornsson came for one particular event, the 56-pound (25.4 kilogram) Weight Over Bar. In the end, he cleared a height of 20 feet 3 inches, breaking his previous record!
Afterwards, he stated afterwards that it is possible that he may decide to come back at full strength!
"It's really tempting to come back, especially competing in a show like this. I haven't made up my mind today, but I can tell you that I might be back."
And it was because of a possible return that Bjornsson went back to training with heavy weights, only to have a wasp fall on him during a 340kg squat! You can see for yourself in the video below!
