Former bodybuilder Guy Cisternino Jr. injured while training his legs

Retired professional bodybuilder of the under 212lber division, Guy Cisternino Jr. recently suffered a quadriceps injury while training his legs with Branch Warren in Texas. The unfortunate incident occurred while pre-kicking on the machine. This former competitor managed to win seven Mr. Olympia titles during his career. However, he retired from racing this year after the Texas Pro 2021, where he finished sixth. Guy captured his pro card by winning the NPC National Championships in 2008 and competed in roughly 40 competitions during his time on the bodybuilding scene.

"The last few months have been very challenging for me mentally, emotionally and now physically. I trained with Branch Warren in Texas on Wednesday. My right quadriceps ruptured, it sounded like I stepped on a light bulb. As soon as I stopped, Branch was about to yell at me to keep going, but he saw my face and knew right away it wasn't good." wrote Cisternino on his social media.

While Guy's injuries certainly bother him, it's nothing compared to what happened to him in 2018. That's because at the time he was recovering from a car accident that nearly killed him...

"I had an MRI on Friday and the results are back today. If I don't train my legs for 6 weeks and allow them to recover and heal, I don't have to have surgery. So no foot training videos for now... I've now added a separate one for arms instead of legs to see if I can fluff them up a bit! "

MRI results showed that Cisternino suffered a partial tear in his quadriceps area, but no muscles or tendons were torn. Fortunately, the injury is not as serious as originally thought. A six-week period will be enough time to recover, assuming Cisternino does not train his legs during that time.
