Will Cbum put the swimsuit competition on the nail? The long-discussed end of a sports icon is near...

There are few athletes who have gained as much popularity in bodybuilding and fitness as Canadian pro and five-time Classic Physique Olympia winner Chris Bumstead. With nearly 23 million followers on Instagram under the moniker Cbum, this athlete can put on quite a show on and off the stage. However, there has been talk of his retirement for a long time and now the athlete himself has weighed in on the matter.

Last time, the reigning champion caused quite a stir by undergoing a hair transplant in Turkey, which according to some personalities made it clear that he was prioritising taking care of himself and his health over further competitive ambitions. And yet, according to some athletes, such as legendary bodybuilder Shawn Ray, it might suit Chris even among the heavyweights in the open category.

However, this is unlikely to happen. When asked during his visit to Brazil whether he plans to compete for a long time, he replied:

"I always said I wanted to compete until I was 30. I have always said that and it is still true. I've never been one to do it for very long. I'm lucky that I became successful at a young age, so now I'm only 28 and I've already won five times. I've already had a more successful career than I ever imagined. So everything here is just bonus points for me."

He concluded with his feelings about Cbum's future career.

Recently, Chris' career hasn't been without significant complications either. After winning the 2023 Olympia, he admitted that he was battling a torn latissimus, plus he and partner Courtney King are expecting their first child. So it's no wonder the reigning champion is now thinking more about the future. It is important to note, however, that he is obviously still planning this year's Olympia.

And who knows what will happen after that. Maybe Urs Kalecinski or Ramon Rocha Queiroz, two great riders who currently stand in the shadow of Cbum, will take the reins.
