Why does Jay Cutler believe Lunsford will win the 2025 Olympics?

Four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler is clear on who is the biggest favourite to win the title in 2025. According to the legendary champion, Derek Lunsford is currently in such form that he poses a "huge problem" for the rest of the starting field.

In the bodybuilding world, the debate over who will take the throne of Mr. Olympia is practically constant. But rarely does an opinion carry as much weight as when it comes from the mouth of Jay Cutler. And this time, he didn't mince words. According to him, Derek Lunsford, the 2023 champion, is on his way to reclaiming the Sandow statue.

"Derek is in the best position of anyone right now," Cutler let slip. "When you look at his recent wins at the Arnold Classic and Pittsburgh Pro, where he's beaten top fighters like Samson Dauda and Nick Walker, it's clear that he's the one setting the pace."

Why is Lunsford so dangerous?

Cutler focused primarily on Lunsford's famed form and sharpness, which his biggest rivals lack. While he acknowledges the qualities of reigning champion Samson Dauda, whose physique he praises for its balance and proportions, he sees one major flaw in his form.

"Samson looks incredible in terms of physique, but he lacks the brutal, breathtaking sharpness that Derek brings," Cutler explains.

It is this "shocking form" that he says is Lunsford's main weapon, giving him an edge over the others.

The key to victory? Legs

Although Cutler sings odes to Lunsford, he points out one detail that will be crucial.

"We all know what a phenomenal back Derek has. That's his dominant part. The question is whether he can bring legs to the stage that match his top. If he can do that, he's going to be very, very hard to beat."

While names like Samson Dauda and former champion Hadi Choopan still hold the top spot, Jay Cutler believes the momentum has shifted to Derek Lunsford's side. His words are a clear warning to anyone eyeing the Mr. Olympia 2025 title: Derek must be counted on as the front-runner. The fight for the throne will be fierce.
