Tom Platz, at 67, flaunted his toned thighs

Golden-era bodybuilder Tom Platz elevated the sport in the 1970s and '80s when he competed in several Mr. Olympia competitions. In a recent Instagram post, Platz, at 67, showed off his trademark quadriceps definition that most competitors envied.

Platz, a Detroit native, was known for his spectacular strength and leg development as a professional. He built a successful career competing in AAU bodybuilding shows. While Platz didn't win titles or awards, he earned praise for his varied and grueling training routines that have influenced generations of competitors since his last competition.

Platz trained at Gold's Gym in Venice Beach and eventually switched to the IFBB, winning the Mr. Universe title in 1980. During his eight appearances at Olympia, Platz tested his resolve against the sport's big names, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lee Haney.

In 1992, he competed in a squat contest against Fred Hatfield, but lost. He returned to the Great American Squat Off in Germany, where both he and Hatfield had success. His last appearance at Olympia was in 1986, but Platz's dedication to the sport has endured in retirement. He continues to train his legs and now, at 67, he boasts of the results. He shared several photos of his quads and thanked his doctor for the changes in his training and diet. He also gave fans a glimpse of his impressive midsection

"Okay guys, I've never been great at selfies, but look, I work out all the time! lol My amazing doctor Dr. Cha @cha_dikito has placed me on another healing journey! I've been under the weather the last few weeks. Her assessment was spot on! Cha has adjusted my workout days and eating lifestyle while I am recovering. Two weeks later this is what happened! I will be 68 years old in June. Thank you, Cha! After all, you said "expect great results with God's food!" Tom Platz wrote.
