Regan Grimes trains his back according to Jay Cutler's legendary DVD!
The year is 2005, YouTube is still in its infancy, and Facebook has only been around for a year, but only for Harvard University students. DVDs are still very much alive and well at this time, and it's thanks to it that most bodybuilding fans of the time can devour workouts from some of the best bodybuilders on the planet.
The phenomenal bodybuilder Jay Cutler is no exception, and it is in 2005 that he makes his DVD entitled The Battle for Olympia 2005, which chronicles his preparation for his battle with another legend of the sport, Ronnie Coleman, at Mr. Olympia 2005.
As we have known for almost two decades, Ronnie went on to win his eighth and final Mr. Olympia title. Jay, who finished second then, reigned the sport for the next two years, 2006 and 2007, only to be dethroned by Dexter Jackson in 2008. Jay subsequently added two more Sandow statuettes belonging to the best bodybuilder on the planet, in 2009 and 2010.
It was based on the aforementioned Jay Cutler DVD that Canadian bodybuilder Regan Grimes decided to give back muscle training a try.
He too has had some stage experience at Olympia Weekend. He has competed here three times, with his first start coming in 2018 in the Classic Physique category.
He added another start, this time in the Open category, in 2021 when he finished 15th here. For now, his last, and best, appearance here was in 2023, when he managed to take a very respectable 9th place.
In 2024, Regan did not add any competitive starts, and it is therefore expected that he could appear on the podium during the upcoming competition season. Whether he will be able to fight his way into the most prestigious bodybuilding competition in the world this year is really only in the stars.
