"Mutant" will train himself!
Nick "The Mutant" Walker is known for his brutal muscle mass and uncompromising attitude. Now, he's adding a new role to the mix - that of his own trainer. After a sixth place finish at Mr. Olympia 2025, which was a disappointment to him and his fans, he's decided to make a major move. He has ended his partnership with coach Kyle Wilkes and will now manage his own diet and pre-contest preparation.
Relief and new motivation
In an interview on October 28, Walker admitted that he feels great after this decision and finally feels like he is back in control.
"I feel very relieved... It feels good," Walker said.
The move comes after a series of changes to his team. Recall that in the past he had success under Matt Jansen, but he also parted ways with him. Although many considered his form at the Pittsburgh Pro 2025 to be lifetime, Walker himself doesn't put it at the top of his rankings. Now he has revealed which moments he considers to be the real highlights.
Nick Walker's two best forms (according to him)
When it came to his best competitive form, Walker was clear.
"I think my best form was at the 2021 Arnold Classic," he said without hesitation. "I was dominant there ... The dryness, the hardness and the fullness of the muscles at the same time, it lacked nothing."
It was at this competition that Walker scored one of his most valuable victories, showing the combination of detail and massiveness that has become his hallmark.
His bronze medal success in Las Vegas came in second place.
"I'd put Olympia in 2022 in second place right now," he continued. "I was extremely full and well chiseled at the same time. Maybe not as dry as I was at Arnold, but the fullness combined with the hardness was pretty incredible, I think."
What's next?
Walker's main goal now is clear - to recover from his setback at the last Olympia and prove to everyone (and himself) that his decision to train himself was the right one. The bodybuilding world eagerly awaits to see what competition he will show up at next. There is loud talk of the 2026 Arnold Classic, where a record prize awaits the winner.
One thing is certain: Nick Walker is determined to come back stronger than ever. The question is whether the role of "player and coach" in one person is the right way to the bodybuilding Olympus.
