Larry Wheels quits bodybuilding and says it was a "huge mistake"!

Larry Wheels is taking his health to a whole new level in 2024. In a recent YouTube video, Wheels talked about his "relapse" on performance enhancing substances and why he decided to quit bodybuilding.
We all know Larry Wheels, a man of many talents, as an entertaining athlete known for his incredible feats of strength. From setting records in power triathlon to conquering the world of arm-wrestling, Wheels has seen and done it all. He also embarked on a career as a bodybuilder and achieved tremendous success as an aspiring NPC talent. In the end, he narrowly missed out on earning his IFBB pro card at last year's 2023 Amateur Olympia, where he shocked the world with his rangy physique by coming in second place. Although he has found success as a multisport athlete, Wheels has not gone through life without a fight.
He has had issues with steroid abuse in the past and also openly admitted to being addicted to cam girls years ago. Recently, Larry Wheels "fell" for steroids again and below he explains why he is leaving the bodybuilding scene once and for all.
Larry Wheels quit bodybuilding to focus on health again
While Wheels managed to quit steroids last year, his bodybuilding training forced him down that rabbit hole again.
"I made a video last year saying I was quitting steroids. But unfortunately, I went back on a full steroid cycle three months ago because of bodybuilding. The reason I quit before, for those who didn't watch the video, is to stop compromising my health to ensure a happy and healthy marriage with my wife. And to be able to focus more on my business,"
Wheels said.Wheels admitted that he only started bodybuilding because he thought the venture would help revive his business and brand online. He says he never had a passion for bodybuilding and called it a "huge mistake."
"I was facing a few PR issues with my company that made me go into panic mode and decide to pursue bodybuilding in an effort to bring more viewers to what I do and subsequently help my brand get back to where it was and even better. That was a huge mistake. I shouldn't have done that."
Although Larry Wheels recently committed to a bodybuilding show in Ireland, he backed out of that commitment, adding that he no longer wants to pursue a pro card.
"This decision to enter bodybuilding came from a bad place. It was coming from a place of desperation, let me get on stage, let me win the Pro card and that will put the spotlight on what I do, on my brand and help me build my business, but that's the wrong approach."
"I'm withdrawing from this competition that I promised to participate in. I don't want to get the pro card. I don't want to pursue being a competitive athlete anymore because it's a distraction from what I want out of my life as I move into my 30s."
When he finally started another cycle, he felt it threatened his future, his family and most importantly his business.
"The fact that I've jumped back on steroids again goes against everything I said I was going to do. It threatens my health, it threatens my integrity because now I'm going against my own words, it threatens my credibility and with you, the fans who watch my content, it threatens my future and most importantly my business."
"Hats off to those who are able to maintain a healthy relationship and build their business and live and manage a successful career while being a competitive professional bodybuilder."
He clarified that the hard cycles have changed him and that he no longer wants to continue bodybuilding and all that this sport entails.
"When I'm on a cycle like: tren, clen, t3, anavar, this and that, whatever I can get my hands on in an effort to become a professional bodybuilder, it changes me, it changes who I am."
His motivation to compete in bodybuilding was "wrong" and he confirmed that he was completely done with the sport.
"It's not for me," Wheels said. "My motivation to do [bodybuilding] is wrong. Does that make me a teetotaler? Yes. I'm quitting. I don't watch it and I believe it's better that way."
In addition to thwarting his bodybuilding ambitions, Wheels also said he would not pursue the deadlift record because it would require him to take more steroids.
"I'm so against this lifestyle that it's just not for me. And I will never aspire to a pro card again. I'm not going to say, 'Yeah, maybe I'll step on the podium at the Olympia,' because I'll never be able to apply myself to that extent. The passion isn't there for me to handle it, to endure the sacrifices that it takes to get there."
"A 1,000-pound deadlift would require me to jump on bigger rations, eat more food and be bigger than ever before, which is undoubtedly the most unhealthy thing I can imagine right now. But I'm not going to do it! It's not worth the reward."
says Wheels. It wasn't the first time Larry Wheels talked about steroids on camera. He recently joined the "Kendall Jenner of Bodybuilding" show where he shared his craziest experiences with PEDs. He explained to Vladislava Galagan that his body "sucks them up" quickly, especially the longer he takes them.
Although we won't be seeing Larry Wheels on the bodybuilding stage anytime soon, he's sure to have something on the horizon for fans. Given his contributions to multiple sports, he remains one of the most recognized athletes on the planet.
