Frank McGrath was hospitalized for ulcers. He got it after injecting testosterone!

Frank McGrath is an old-school bodybuilder. He secured his pro card back in 2003 and since then he's made a name for himself thanks to his monstrous quadriceps, bulky forearms and well-separated arms. And although he hasn't appeared on stage since 2015, he's still a fairly prominent figure. Now, he's shared his intimidating experience with the testosterone replacement therapy he's undergoing.

"I didn't have the appetite, I felt pretty tired and stuff like that, but I overcame it and went to Olympia and had a great time. Sunday morning my shoulder was very painful and swollen. I thought it was just a bad application, but it didn't get any better," Frank describes the beginning of the problematic situation.

However, the worst was yet to come.

"I wasn't sure if it had become inflamed, so I went to the hospital. I got it checked out, they did blood tests and stuff.No infection, but my hand was swollen up to my forearm."

He was subsequently sent home from the hospital with the understanding that he was to come back the next day for another ultrasound, with the understanding that they would drain the accumulated fluid from his shoulder and he should be fine. At home, however, Frank had tremendous abdominal pain, was disoriented and unable to keep his balance. When he tried to go to the bathroom, he fell and hit his head on the cabinet. He was taken to the hospital where Frank immediately received a blood transfusion.

"I ended up with two large ulcers in my esophagus and the main thing that happened was that I was bleeding internally. I had a lot of inflammation in my bowels, ulcers in my stomach... they fixed all that, whatever they had to do."

But it's certainly not the first time bodybuilding fans may have encountered esophageal ulcers. In fact, this exact diagnosis may have cost Brandon Curry his gold, as he had to be hospitalized just hours before the Olympics, which we informed you about in a separate article. However, Frank McGrath is currently out of the worst of it and we wish him a speedy recovery and a return to training.
