The bodybuilding community is on its feet. Two-time Mr. Olympia winner, Mamdouh "Big Ramy" Elssbiay, who took a temporary hiatus from the scene after disappointing results, recently hinted at a possible return to the competition stage in 2025. His Instagram post, accompanied by a photo of his massive physique, sparked a new wave of speculation.

A journey of ups and downs

Big Ramy has had a turbulent time in recent years. After dominating wins at Mr. Olympia in 2020 and 2021, it came as a shock when he lost the title in 2022 and dropped to fifth place. A subsequent fourth place finish at the 2023 Arnold Classic confirmed that the Egyptian giant was struggling to maintain the form that had taken him to the top.

Critics have pointed in particular to his deteriorating detail and muscle control, particularly in the back and triceps, which were previously his strengths. It was these shortcomings that prompted him to take a two-year break from competing and focus on recovery and stem cell treatment to help resolve his lingering issues.

Speculation about his return was sparked by a recent comment on Instagram, where he responded to a fan's question with a simple, "I'll be back. "Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, this short message was enough to get people talking about his participation in Mr. Olympia 2025, which is scheduled to take place October 9-12 in Las Vegas.

His trainer, Chris Aceto, has previously stated that due to Ramy's incredible size and mass, he remains a threat to anyone on the stage. The key will be whether or not he can improve his criticized games during the break. If so, he has the potential to become only the second bodybuilder in history to reclaim the Mr. Olympia title after losing it once.

The fans are divided. While some believe in his triumphant return, others are skeptical and fear that his best days are behind him. One thing is certain: if Big Ramy does indeed appear on the start list, Mr. Olympia 2025 will be one of the most watched events of recent years.
