"I'm not going to knock anyone, but I would win." Nick Walker reflects back on Mr. Olympia 2023
It was a difficult time for Nick Walker as he was forced to withdraw from the Mr. Olympia 2023 competition just days before the contest.
As the standout bodybuilder in the Men's Open category, it didn't take long for "Mutant" to break into the top rungs of the bodybuilding ladder. In 2021, Walker secured wins at the New York Pro and Arnold Classic, setting the stage for a fifth place finish in his Mr. Olympia debut.
Walker, who boasted a freak factor, huge arms and a narrow waist, honed his physique during the 2022 season with the goal of bringing a next-level package to his second Olympia competition. When it was time to storm the big stage in Las Vegas, Nevada, Walker finished third with the Olympia People's Champ Award in hand.
Walker, who has been sidelined due to a serious hamstring tear, reflected on missing out on the biggest event of the year he could have won in a recent IFBB AMA podcast!
"Listen, I love competing. I don't think I'm going to compete at the Arnold. But I'm going to think I'm going to go to that special invite just because of the circumstances. I just feel like it was an unfortunate coincidence for me. It's not like I just didn't show up or anything. Something literally knocked me out. So I feel like I'm still the third best in the world with an asterisk by my name," Walkersaid .
