Arnold Schwarzenegger has been detained at Munich airport!
Hollywood legend Arnold Schwarzenegger has been the target of a tax inspection by German customs. They caught him inadvertently trying to smuggle into the country a Swiss luxury watch by Audemars Piguet that was custom-made just for him. The watches were to be sold at auction to benefit a charity organisation.
Schwarzenegger was travelling to the climate summit in Kitzbühel, Austria, according to Bild newspaper. He had the watch in his suitcase and estimated its value at 20,000 euros (about 490,000 crowns). Schwarzenegger was stopped by customs officers after they inquired about him as a "super VIP traveller". The actor allowed himself to be checked without any problems and showed them his luggage.

When customs officers discovered a luxury watch in one of the suitcases, they were surprised.
"We are investigating Arnold Schwarzenegger on suspicion of tax evasion," said Thomas Meister, a spokesman for Munich customs.
Schwarzenegger tried to defend himself by saying the watches were to be sold at a charity auction.
"That's what Germans are all about, you can't see the forest for the trees," the actor sighed.
However, customs officials were relentless and charged Schwarzenegger a fine of 35,000 euros (roughly 866,000 crowns). The actor was ready to pay the amount by credit card, but he was not allowed to do so.
According to the regulations, half of the customs fees had to be paid in cash. Schwarzenegger did not have that much money on him, so he had to go to the bank accompanied by a customs officer and withdraw the amount.
The detention and subsequent procedure delayed Schwarzenegger's journey by three hours. The actor believes it was a case of bullying, which his lawyers will address.
