Another bodybuilder spoke out about steroids. What negatives did Sadik Hadzovic experience?

Bodybuilding, like almost every top sport, is largely associated with doping, which is an inevitable solution for many athletes striving for the best possible results. Fortunately, however, there is also an increasing number of professionals who are speaking quite openly about the serious health consequences that anabolic steroid abuse can have.

In the past, for example, Phil Heath, one of the best bodybuilders in history, has spoken out on the subject. Now Sadik Hadzovic, who is also one of the very popular figures in the fitness industry, has taken a similar step. And he has been in it for a really long time - after all, he already took sixth place at the 2019 Arnold Classic. After that, he took a three-year competition break to improve his shortcomings and although he qualified for the Olympia in 2022, he eventually withdrew from the event. However, he is currently in preparation for the Tampa PRO in August, so Sadik posted a video on his YouTube channel during his preparation in which he details both his experiences with doping and the negative effects he has seen on himself.

"My first Olympia was I think in 2013, so I was taking anabolic steroids continuously about 20 or 25 times. Each time it was for about three months, but it's on the same level for me as, say, creatine or amino acids. But people don't talk about it and even now I feel weird saying it. Society has kind of made it so that people don't talk about it now."

the famous bodybuilder revealed for starters, adding that in the 1970s, for example, athletes had no problem admitting what substances they were taking.

At the same time, however, Sadik also added that he became a professional bodybuilder without using anabolic steroids. The only substance he allegedly used was clenbuterol, which helped him burn fat in situations where he was supposed to be on the cover of a magazine, for example. However, when he started using anabolics, it had a number of negative effects on him:

"The main thing was that my mentality was different on steroids. And not in a good way. Once in a while, for example, I would have panic attacks. I was either extremely aggressive or extremely happy, so I was dealing with extreme mood swings. You amplify all aspects of your personality, including the negative ones."

At the same time, this popular fitness expert also stressed that there is no need to stay on the cycle for the whole year and therefore there is no need to take steroids outside of competition. The cycle, which lasts 16 weeks, is followed by a break of the same length, adding that he reportedly doesn't even do TRT, the testosterone replacement therapy we wrote about in a separate article.

Young athletes in particular should thus bear in mind that the use of any banned substances is not to be taken lightly and ideally the situation should always be consulted with experts on the subject.
