Czech weightlifters brought 6 medals from Turkey!
Almost a month ago (15th - 17th November 2019) a smaller part of our team participated in the 1st INTERNATIONAL NAIM SULEYMANOĞLU TOURNAMENT in Gaziantep, Turkey. The tournament had a silver medal position in the Olympic qualifiers and certainly helped our national team to boost our hopes of winning Olympic berths.

Jiří Orság
Jiri Orság competed in the HK over 109 kg, winning the silver medal with a performance of 405 (171, 234).
Expression on social media:
We were in Turkey over the weekend, which was the last tournament of the year for us that counted towards qualification for #tokyo2020. My form wasn't great anymore, but I still put together a 405kg double and got decent points and 2 silver medals! If my third attempts had worked out, I would have even had the same total as at the WC.
In total we brought 6 medals, which is not bad at all - to my two silver ones Petr Petrov added 3 more silvers and Kamil Kučera another bronze. In the spring we have two more qualification competitions - the tournament in Malta and the European Championships in Moscow. Then it will be decided who (or if anyone) will defend our beautiful sport at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. But I believe that this time someone will be there and I even believe that he will not be alone!

Kamil Kučerka
Kamil took 4th place with 397 (175, 222). However, he took a great bronze medal in the market!

Petr Petrov
Petr Petrov took 2nd place in the HK U67kg with a performance of 294 (132, 162). He broke the national records in the market and in the double fight.
Statement on social media:
The qualification heat for the Tokyo Olympics is slowly approaching the grand finale. Today at the International Naim Suleymanoglu tourament I won valuable qualification points in the U67kg category. In this tournament I took a nice second place with 132 kg in the market, 162 kg in the overhead and 294 kg in the double and broke the Czech records in the market and double.

Again I moved one step closer to Tokyo in the under 67 kg weight class. I would like to thank my coaches Pavel Ivanič, Ladislav Pásztor and Pavel Provázek for their help with weight adjustment, as well as the support of OLYMP Sports Centre of the Ministry of InteriorSurvival Nutrition Supplements

Michaela Skleničková
Míša set the national record in the HK U87kg/W in the overhead with 110kg. She finished 5th in the double with a performance of 190 (80, 110).
Simona Hertlová
Simča competed in HK up to 76 kg. Unfortunately she got injured during the competition, but still she took 5th place with 182 (82, 100).
