Crossfit Games 2020 - results | Mathew Fraser and Tia C. Toomey gold again!

As surprising as it may seem these days, the 2020 CrossFit Games have happened! Obviously, there were several precautions and competitor selections before the final race, but the world's most prestigious CrossFit competition still took place. But let's take a look at this event from the very beginning.

The 2020 CrossFit Games already brought a big change in the fact that the qualification(CrossFit Games Open 2020), which takes place at the beginning of the year for these competitions, was held the previous year (2019) in the fall. Many competitors speculated as to why the organizers made this move however, in the end, whether they wanted to or not, those who wanted to go to the Games had to attend the Open. Among the athletes who qualified for the final CrossFit Games competition were our athletes Martin Feiferlik and Sonia Karaskova.

However, the whole world's plans were crossed by COVID - a virus that in some way changed the lives of all people on Earth. The news that the CrossFit Games 2020 will be without national champions, teams and age categories shook the whole CrossFit world. For many athletes, this was their first, but possibly last, chance to make it to the CrossFit Games...

However, CrossFit legend Rich Froning was not happy with this decision and decided to hold a little "CrossFit Games for teams" in his gym. The competition was supposed to be organized only for teams, Rich had everything planned to the smallest detail, but even thiscompetition was ruined by covid plans and so Rich had to cancel the competition.

For the CrossFit community, it was far from over... After company president Greg Glassman made the following comments on social media:

"Racismis a public health issue."
IT IS FLOYD-19

A wave of discontent shook CrossFit and fanned a flame that was hard to extinguish. A slew of "Games athletes "refused to compete in the 2020 CrossFit Games specifically as a disagreement with a statement made by the head of CrossFit Inc.

However, as expected, the situation calmed down and plans for the world's biggest race could continue. Due to the situation regarding COVID - 19 that existed in the USA, the race organizers decided to allow only the top 5 athletes from the Elite Man and Elite Woman categories to compete in the final race.

So on 18 - 19 September an online competition was held, which selected the TOP 10 athletes who entered the final fight on 19 - 25 October.
