Reebok CrossFit Games 2020 without national champions, teams and age groups!

The CrossFit Games team announced the terrible news on Saturday, May 9 that the individual invitations for the 2020 Games will be reset and a new protocol will be followed to invite 30 men and 30 women to the finals in Aromas. The top 20 men and women from the 2020 CrossFit Games Open will receive invitations along with the top 10 champions from the previously closed sanctionals events.

At the same time, any categories other than the elite ones are cancelled... And due to the cancellation of the team division, team athletes who originally declined their invitation to compete as individuals after finishing in the top 20 will have a chance to accept an invitation again. But Rich Froning has not been lazy and plans to hold his own team competition at his gym, inviting only those teams that would qualify for the 2020 Reebok CrossFit Games. There will also be an online qualifier from which the top 3 teams will advance.

This is how crossfitter Martin Feiferlík, who was supposed to take part in this year's Reebok CrossFit Games, commented on the event.

The CrossFit Games have changed the qualification system due to the current "COVID-19" crisis, so my national championship title no longer allows me access to the 2020 CrossFit Games. Congratulations to everyone who made it. I'm pretty sad and disappointed because it represented a lot of sacrifice, hard work, many hours of training and sacrifice. I think I did my best, and I wanted to show it! But we have to take into account what the world is going through right now!

I think there are more important things. People are losing a lot more now with Covid-19, and for those people I can't consider this an unlucky moment or complain. I'm not blaming anyone and I have no excuses. I will continue to work and train to the best of my ability! I want to work harder, I know everything is as it should be and it's just a journey again, it's then up to us how we approach it! Thank you to all of you who have helped me! I appreciate it.
