Flex Weekend PRO 2024: Behrooz Tabani fixes his taste after Empro Classic and qualifies for Olympia! Results and report

Last week was the Empro Classic, the race where Slovak giant Michal Križánek won last year and qualified for the Olympia. However, he finished only third in this year's Empro Classic and a few days later he announced that he would not even try to qualify for Olympia this year due to injury. Second place, however, was taken by Behrooz Tabani in Alicante, Spain, who came to Milan to fix his appetite for the Flex Weekend Pro. And we have a report for you.

How did the open category races go?

There were 4 categories in these Italian competitions and besides the classically most popular open, there were also men's physique, women's wellness and women's bikini fitness. As far as the open category is concerned, there were 12 fighters, of which the strongest on paper was probably Behrooz Tabani. However, apart from him, Nathan de Asha, who is of course one of the legends of the sport, was also on the start list. And with the addition of the erratic giant Emir Omegaric, the contest was a good spectacle.

And it was. All three fighters were in great form and it was no surprise that they were given the opportunity to face off in the middle of the first callout. From the way the judges had the competitors lined up, it looked like Behrooz and Nathan were battling for the top spot, with Emir and Anthony Jehl battling it out for the bronze plaque.

However, as Behrooz had improved his fitness slightly since last week and had also worked on his posing, it was clear that Nathan de Asha was going to have a tough time. While his height and incredibly deep and massive quadriceps spoke in his favour, it was clear that this alone would not be enough this time. When the judges then announced the final standings, it was as follows:

Top 5

1. Behrooz Tabani
2. Nathan de Asha
3. Emir Omegaric
4. Anthony Jehl
5. Justin Musiol

The races, besides the good spectacle of old familiar faces, brought a fresh wind in the form of new and untried competitors. The fourth and fifth places were taken by competitors for whom this competition was their debut among professionals, and so they showed that they have what it takes to beat, for example, Krystian Wolski, who finished sixth this time.

Behrooz Tabani thus made up for his silver medal from the aforementioned EMpro Classic. It should be noted, however, that although he has qualified for the Olympia twice in the past, he has had trouble getting his Iranian passport to the United States on time each time. Hopefully he will be successful this time and Mr. Olympia 2024 will offer a better spectacle for the competitor.
