Bodybuilder Santi Aragon retires from competitive bodybuilding at 33
If you want to pursue competitive bodybuilding to the fullest, you have to sacrifice a lot... Some even sacrifice their lives for the sport. Although the career of a professional bodybuilder is challenging, young athletes are throwing themselves into it headfirst. However, the constant dieting, bulking and use of various doping substances will take its toll in a few years. And that's what Santi Aragon, who recently announced on his social media that he is retiring from competitive bodybuilding to focus more on his family and his health, has just realized. Santi decided to make this move at the age of 33. Aragon has been on the professional scene for 10 years.
"I formally announce that I am quitting bodybuilding. It's been something I've wanted to do for the last year. I'm leaving the stage on my own terms and I wasn't forced to do it. As time passes, your priorities in life change. My priorities are my future, my health and my family. Bodybuilding has gotten in the way of these 3 things I hold dear. Bodybuilding has brought me a lot of joy over the last 10 years.
I am grateful for the people I have met, the places I have visited and all the life lessons I can take with me into the future. I am very thankful for the last 10 years and all the people who have been a part of it. Just because I'm retired from competing doesn't mean I'm disappearing from the fitness world." wrote Santi Aragon on his social media.
One of the reasons Santi is retiring at such a young age may be because several young bodybuilders have died in the past few years and Aragon doesn't want to be one of them. Even though we won't see this great former classic physique competitor on the boards anymore, Santi is not disappearing from the fitness scene.
