Arnold Strongman Classic UK 2021 | Results

During this weekend, October 1 - 3, 2021, the first edition of the Arnold Strongman Classic UK took place in Birmingham, England. The festival featured many sporting events from a variety of disciplines, including professional strongmen. Ten of them entered this event: Andy Black, Nedzmin Ambeskovic, Pa O'Dwyer, Luke Stoltman, Tom Stoltman, Evan Singleton, Oleksii Novikov , Trey Mitchell, JF Caron and Mark Felix.

However, only eight finished the race - the Stoltman brothers withdrew during the first two events to avoid injury.

But now let's take a look at the race itself. During one day the strongmen had to complete 5 disciplines in total: Hercules Hold, Frame Carry, Axle Bar Deadlift for reps, Dumbbell Press and Atlas Stones.

Hercules Hold

  1. Mark Felix - 81.62 seconds
  2. Evan Singleton - 78.11 seconds
  3. JF Caron - 74.27 seconds

The first competition that kicked off the Arnold Strongman Classic UK was the so-called Hercules Hold. This was dominated by Mark Felix, who also holds the world record in this event. Although he didn't break his own record at the Arnold in Birmingham, he won the discipline with a time of 81.62 seconds.

Frame Carry

  1. Oleksii Novikov - 7.35 seconds
  2. Evan Singleton - 8.50 seconds
  3. Mark Felix - 9.75 seconds

In this kind= of discipline the athletes had to carry 400kg over a distance of 20m in the fastest possible time. This was best done by a young man from Ukraine, Oleksii Novikov, who covered the distance in 7.35 seconds.

Axle Bar Deadlift for reps

  1. Oleksii Novikov - eight reps
  2. Trey Mitchell - seven reps
  3. Evan Singleton - five reps (tied for third place)
  4. JF Caron - five reps (tied for third place)
  5. Nedzmin Ambeskovic - five reps (tied for third place)

During the third event, the powerlifters were tasked with creating as many reps as possible with 360kg on the axle deadlift. This was again best done by Oleksii Novikov who managed to produce eight valid attempts!

Dumbbell Press

  1. Oleksii Novikov - eight reps
  2. Evan Singleton - seven reps
  3. Trey Mitchell - six reps (tied for third place)
  4. JF Caron - six reps (tied for third place)

The penultimate event was again dominated by the young man who would become the world's strongest man in 2020 - Oleksii Novikov. This time the strongmen were tasked with getting the 100kg one-arm overhead as many times as possible. Novikov managed to do that with eight reps.

Atlas Stones

  1. Andy Black - five stones in 18.28 seconds
  2. Trey Mitchell - five stones in 18.41 seconds
  3. Evan Singleton - five stones in 19.44 seconds

The final event to determine whether Novikov or Singleton would leave England with the title was the Atlas Stones. However, Singleton finished better in this discipline, managing to complete the discipline in 19.44 seconds. Novikov was one second behind him and so the overall position was clear. Even though Oleksii and Evan were tied for first place in the overall points total, the Arnold Strongman Classic UK title went to Evan, who beat Oleksii in the last discipline. The third place went to American Trey Mitchell.
