Arnold Strongman Classic 2018 - Hafthor Bjornsson is the champion!
Author: The Arnold Sports Festival is not just a competition of professional bodybuilders known as the Arnold Classic, but as the name suggests, it is a multi-sport festival featuring many sporting disciplines, many sporting successes, and equally many sporting failures.
One of the most attractive sports is undoubtedly the Arnold Strongman Classic, a competition for the strongest man on the planet. For the last three years, Brian Shaw has been the man to beat, and he was not to be missed this year.
Apart from him, there were nine other competitors who really had something to offer.
They competed in the following disciplines:
| Discipline | Discipline description |
|---|---|
| Bag Over Bar | throwing weights weighing 23 - 45 kg with both hands over the head over a bar about 4.5 m high |
| The Stone Shoulder | Lifting a 186 kg stone on the shoulder |
| Timber Carry | Carrying a 408 kg fence on an inclined plane |
| Rogue Elephant Bar Deadlift | Elephant Bar Deadlift |
| Appollon's Wheels | Lifting 181.4kg axle wheels overhead |
Records for each discipline:
Bag Over Bar:
The Stone Shoulder:
Timber Carry:
Rogue Elephant Bar Deadlift:
Appollon's Wheels:
Hafthor Bjornsson was able to dominate three of the five disciplines to take the win, relegating three-time champion Brian Shaw to second place.
