This interesting type of sugar is made from the sap of the flowers of coconut palms. It fits wherever you would use cane sugar.

It sweetens gently and tastes like caramel. Excellent for sweet baking in the oven.

Made from coconut sap, which is a light sweet liquid that oozes out of the flower when cut, then boiled for several hours to thicken and caramelise. At this stage, the sugar is bottled and sold (it is a thick brown syrup) or dried. This produces small brown crystals similar to cane sugar. This is the most common form of coconut sugar.

It is advisable to use each sweetener sparingly, there are simply no magic detours... Coconut sugar has a very pleasant caramel taste and is about as sweet as cane sugar. Because it is a natural product, the taste and sweetness can sometimes vary - depending on the season, where the palm trees grow or how long it takes to boil.

What to do with it? It is suitable wherever you would use brown cane sugar, adding a subtle caramel flavour and aroma to food and drink.

Store at a temperature of up to 20°C and relative humidity of up to 60%.
