Reishi is nicknamed "the king of mushrooms" and it's not just for nothing. It is currently the most thoroughly researched adaptogenic mushroom with over 5,000 peer-reviewed articles or studies focused on its effects. Reishi contains hundreds of bioactive compounds or bioactive molecules (in the Research and Development Department of Hifas da Terra, these components have been studied for more than 20 years) whose effects are related to mental fitness and many other areas. The earliest records of Reishi date back to the second millennium BC. Its name is a derivation of the Japanese word Shii (chestnut-like tree) and the word take (mushroom). It is one of the first mushrooms grown on wood and also the most widely used edible mushroom in the world. It is used, among other things, as a natural aphrodisiac and contains all essential amino acids, iron, calcium, zinc and especially polysaccharides such as the beta-glucan lentinan.

Maitake or Grifola frondosa is one of the most popular adaptogenic mushrooms and is part of the well-known trinity of Reishi, Maitake, Shiitake used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a tonic and adaptogen. Maitake is popular in both China and Japan and is called Hen of the Woods, Sheepshead or River Mushroom. Maitake contains beta-glucans, natural adaptogen modulators, which are more complex in structure than the beta-glucans found in oatmeal.

Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) - Together with Shiitake, the oyster mushroom is the most popular mushroom known outside the medicinal field, especially in the kitchen. Hifas da Terra carries out environmental research projects aimed at restoring soil contaminated by hydrocarbons and substances from mining activities, as well as restoring soil damaged by forest fires. While some fungi are able to break down pollutants, others bring life to inert soil through interaction with the roots of chestnuts, oaks and various conifers. These symbiotic fungi species provide the trees they coexist with with great resilience and strength to survive in adverse conditions. The symbiotic coexistence of beneficial fungi with plant roots is called mycorrhiza. Hifas da Terra continuously plants mycorrhizal trees to help damaged soil.

Clean energy and energy savings
Hifas da Terra's headquarters are surrounded by natural greenery, which also requires a mastery of water resource management. Therefore, there is a well collecting rainwater, which, after ozone treatment, serves as a water source for the company's headquarters. Biomass obtained from the surrounding forest is used as a biofuel generating heat during the winter in our slate floors.

Less waste
Hifas also uses a closed loop system to manage waste from the grow bags and logs we use in growing our mushrooms. Once the production cycle of bags and logs is complete, the resulting substrate is used to nourish our soil with organic matter.
