World´s Strongest Man 2018 - who is the strongest man in the world?

On Sunday, 6 May 2018, this year's World's Strongest Man competition took place in Filípi.

A total of ten fighters entered the competition, four of whom had already competed at the Arnold Strongman Classic 2018 in early March. These were Jean-Francois Caron, Matjaž Belšak, Brian Shaw and Hafthor Bjornsson. The latter two were expected to put up a very tough fight!

All of the strongmen were in action in the following six events:

As for the first day of competition, Mateusz Kieliszkowski dominated the first event, Brian Shaw was second, and Hafthor Bjornsson "only" third.
The second discipline was dominated by Hafthor Bjornsson and Brian Shaw.
The third discipline was again dominated by Hafthor Bjornsson.

Hafthor "The Thor" Bjornsson was the winner of the first day of competition.

On the second day Mateusz Kieliszkowski won the fourth discipline. Second place went to Hafthor Bjornsson and third place went to Brian Shaw.
Hafthor Bjornsson took another first place in the fifth discipline, followed by Mateusz Kieliszkowski.
In the sixth discipline, all the favourites were burnt out as Johan Els was the only one who managed to move all five stones. Brian Shaw was fourth, Hafthor Bjornsson fifth and Mateusz Kieliszkowski sixth.

The winner of the second day was also Hafthor Bjornsson.

So it is clear that the overall winner is Hafthor "The Thor" Bjornsson! In addition to his triumph at the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic, he also took the title of World's Strongest Man for 2018!
