CrossFit, a common face on the fitness scene, but what about the Czech Functional Fitness Federation?
Almost three years ago - October 2016 - the International Functional Fitness Federation was founded . For most people, the name doesn't mean anything. Functional fitness is a sport that tests an athlete's abilities in a variety of movement patterns, activities and energy systems. However, it is now a familiar sport in a new coat. We could say it follows the CrossFit principle, in contrast, Functional Fitness is a non-profit organization that has a current goal of getting the sport into the Olympics. Therefore, athletes will be able to represent their country either at the World Championships or, consequently, at the Olympic Games through these federations.

In our country, the Czech Functional Fitness Federation was founded last June. The same year, the first Czech championship was held in this dispute, where athletes were selected to represent the Czech Republic at the World Championships in London!

What do CrossFit and CFFF have in common?
As far as CrossFit Inc. is concerned, nothing. CrossFit Inc. is a private company that organizes the most prestigious CrossFit competitions Reebok CrossFit Games. And as such, it can't aspire to make it to the Olympics in the form it has today. Conversely, an independent functional fitness federation can and does aspire to make it to the Olympics - it's its longer-term goal, which is to #LA2028.
Where as with CrossFit as a sport, they have very similar ones. CrossFit is a licensed brand/name and therefore cannot be used by the federation. That's why CrossFit = Functional Fitness.
