Tom Stoltman is the UK's strongest man for 2021!

During the last weekend 23.10.2021 in Sheffield, England the strongman games for the strongest man in Great Britain took place. The competitors were Paul Smith, Andy Black, Desmond Gahan, Tom Stoltman, Adam Bishop, Graham Hicks, Luke Stoltman, Pa O'Dwyer, Shane Flowers and Mark Felix. They had to compete in events such as Atlas Stones, Super Yoke, Loading Race, Deadlift for Reps and Dumbbell Medley. Scottish-born Tom Stoltman had the greatest ambition to succeed and this year he became the strongest man in the world. However, let's go through each discipline together and take a step-by-step look at the progression through the entire competition.

Event 1 - Dumbbell Medley

During the first event, the strongmen were tasked with getting five different weighted dumbbells (80kg -120kg) overhead in the shortest time possible, but none of the competitors were able to get the last, heaviest dumbbell overhead. However, the Stoltman brothers and Bishop fared best.

  1. Luke Stoltman - four in 33.76 seconds
  2. Tom Stoltman - four in 35.11 seconds
  3. Adam Bishop - four in 44.35 seconds

Event 2 - Super Yoke

The next event that awaited the strongmen was walking the Super Yoke, which weighed 400kg! The aim of the event was to walk 20m in the shortest time with this heavy structure, but with a time limit of 60 seconds. But no strongman needed more than 20 seconds to cover this distance. The best of these competitors:

  1. Adam Bishop - 9.54 seconds
  2. Mark Felix - 11.36 seconds
  3. Tom Stoltman - 11.56 seconds

Event 3 - Deadlift for Reps

The third event that awaited the competitors was the maximum reps on the deadlift with 350kg. The great rarity of this discipline is the interesting fact that there were three competitors who managed to do the same number of reps.

  1. Tom Stoltman - eight reps. (1st place)
  2. Andy Bishop - eight reps. (1st place)
  3. Graham Hicks - eight reps. (1st place)

Event 4 - Loading Race

In this event the competitors competed in pairs. As with the Super Yoke, they were tasked with covering 20m in the shortest possible time, but this time they had to carry a sandbag, a barrel and a large tyre.

  1. Tom Stoltman - 35.01 seconds
  2. Luke Stoltman - 36.25 seconds
  3. Shane Flowers - 37.52 seconds

Event 5 - Atlas Stones

The discipline that was to decide who would become the strongest man in the UK was the Atlas Stones. Competitors had to lift stones weighing between 100 and 180 kilograms in the shortest time possible. However, the younger of the Stoltman brothers lived up to his nickname, the 'King of the Stones', when he managed to win the event in a time of 18.9 seconds, thus dominating the entire race!

  1. Tom Stoltman - five in 18.9 seconds
  2. Graham Hicks - five in 20.88 seconds
  3. Andy Black - five in 22.12 seconds
