The return of the champion - Conor McGregor downed Cerrone after just 40 seconds! #UFC246

On Saturday, January 18th, the#UFC246galatook place in Las Vegas . The highlight of this gala was the highly anticipatedConor McGregor VS Donald Cerrone fight .

Even though Conor had more than a year break from MMA, most fans of the sport expected Conor to be the one to win the fight. And they certainly weren't wrong, as McGregor took down Donald after just 40 seconds!

The Irish fighter expressed his opinion after the fight as follows:

I made history here today. I got a new record. I'm the first fighter in the UFC to score a knockout in three weight classes. I'm proud of that. Cerrone holds the record for most finishes by head kick and I'm very happy that I took him down with that one.

In fact, McGregor has knocked out opponents at featherweight (66kg), lightweight (70kg) and welterweight (77kg).

Donald has a phenomenal legacy. It's an honor to share the octagon with him. He's one of the best fighters in the UFC that I've fought. It's an honor. I can only hope I can do what he did. I mean, this was my 12th fight.

A shaken Donald commented on the fast pace of the fight:

"I've never seen punches like this. He got me. He loaded me up good and then kicked me in the head. He kicked my ass pretty early. But I love it and I'm not going to stop fighting, " said the UFC veteran, for whom this was the 51st fight of his career.
