The 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games are just around the corner! What can we expect?

In just a few days the biggest crossfit festival will start. Why, you ask? Because the Reebok CrossFit Games 2019 are about to start and it's the 13th time in a row! The Games will begin on Monday , July 29 and will end on Sunday, August 4, 2019. And where, will the athletes be competing against each other? The 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games are being held this year at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin, United States.

How could athletes qualify for the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games? To become the2019 Reebok CrossFit Games Open champion in their country, to finish in the top 20 in the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games Open worldwide, or to win one of the so-called Sanctionals, which are CrossFit competitions that bring together top athletes from around the world. So believe me, winning these races is really not that easy! And what kind of races are they?

After qualifiers,148 men and 134 women advanced to individual competition and registered to compete in the Games. Due to the significantly higher number of participants, the Games will implement cuts after each event. After the first event, each field will be reduced to 75 competitors. After the second, it will be reduced to 50 competitors and then by 10 participants after each subsequent event until only 10 remain.

A new and big surprise at the Ohio meet was the wod - a biathlon in which the athletes actually had to shoot! The well-known manufacturer Concept2 came up with the rifle. With that, Concept and CrossFit may have given us a hint of what could be in store for athletes at the 2019 Reebok Crossfit Games this year!

CrossFit legend Rich Froning and his Mayhem team

An athlete we couldn't imagine the Games without is RICH FRONING! This legend is as important to the CrossFit community as Arnold Schwarzenegger is to bodybuilders, for example. Rich has managed to win the Games on the individual stage 4 times (2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014), while also managing to win this crossfit feast 3 times (2015, 2016 and 2018) with his CrossFit Mayhem team .

How will Rich's team fare this year? We'll probably have to be surprised. However, below you can check out workouts from Rich's garage gym in preparation for just the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games!

The incomparable Mathew Fraser

Even though Mathew has won the Reebok CrossFit Games compared to Rich "only" 3 times ( 2016, 2017 and 2018) he is not the icon that Rich is. This year Mathew managed to win not only the Reebok CrossFit Games Open in his country but also all over the world and also won the just mentioned Sanctionals in Dubai and Ohio! I'm sure most of you will agree that Mathew is definitely going for more gold this year!

Lovely Islanian Sara Sigmundsdóttir

Can Sara finally make her dream come true this year and become the winner of the Reebok CrossFit Games? Sara has two 3rd place finishes from the Games ( 2015 and 2016) she finished 4th in 2017 and 37th last year due to injury. This year, however, she is going for her goals really well! She managed to win the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games Open not only globally but also in her country. She also managed to win the Sanctional in Lodyn!

Seasoned winner Tia-Clair Toomey

Tiais already a seasoned athlete. She has managed to win the Games twice (2017 and 2018), and has also managed to take 2nd place twice (2015 and 2016). This year, she finished 6thin the Reebok CrossFit Games Open. This could have been very surprising to most... However, she won the Open in her country and also won the Sanctional in Miami and Ohio!

Slovak wonder woman Kara Frey

A big surprise for Czechoslovak CrossFit was the news that Slovakian athlete Kara Frey managed to finish in an amazing 12th place out of 14033 competitors in the Reebok CrossFit Games Open 2019 ! By finishing in the top 20 in the Open, she has secured adirect qualification to the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games! This athlete is truly a great role model!
