Steven Ward vs Hafthor Bjornsson - how was the boxing exhibition?
Author: Last Friday, 15.1.2020, an exhibition boxing match took place in Dubai, in which the strongest man on the planet for 2018, the record holder in the deadlift Thor Hafthor Bjornsson and professional English boxer Steven "Quiet Man" Ward faced each other. However, viewers were not able to see the fight footage until the following day, 16.1.
The match was scheduled for three rounds of three minutes each, but at the end of which there was no winner or loser, why is that you ask? Since it was only an exhibition match, the result must have ended in a draw. But even so, most of the spectators had their eyes on Goliath in the form of Thor. And given that this was Thor's first fight, one could only speculate as to where his boxing skills stood.
Despite the Icelandic's great weight, his movement was not as cumbersome as expected. It is clear that he can't compare to a professional boxer like Steven Ward, but still Thor gave an interesting performance that he doesn't have to be ashamed of. He certainly has some work to do before his fight with Eddie Hall, but the exhibition certainly bore the fruit that Thor was expecting from this fight.
