Sergio Oliva Jr. retires from bodybuilding and takes up pole dancing!

Until recently, it looked like professional bodybuilder Sergio Oliva Jr., who is the son of the 1967, 1968 and 1969 Mr. Olympia titleholder, would follow in his father's footsteps.

Sergio Oliva Jr.

After all, he was well on his way to a successful career when he immediately scored a victory during his debut start among the pros at the 2017 New York Pro!

During the following season he notched two second place finishes, at the 2018 Wings of Strength Chicago and the 2018 Wings of Strength Muscle Vodka Tampa Pro, which allowed him to qualify for his first Mr. Olympia. There, he finished a split 16th at the time.

He skipped the 2019 season, and didn't return until 2020, when he stood on the podium of the world's second most prestigious competition, the Arnold Classic, where he finished fifth.

He competed in last year's Legion Sports Fest Pro 2021, but finished "all the way" third at the event, when he was edged out by "pocket bodybuilder" Shaun Clarida, who is the representative of the 212lb division, in addition to second place Regan Grimes!
He then went on to compete at the 2021 Arnold Classic, but did even worse than he had at the previous event, taking only sixth place.

Perhaps it is these placings that Sergio Jr. sees as failures, so he decided to hang up his bodybuilding career and try his luck in a completely different sport, Pole Dance.

The proof of this can be seen in a post he published today on his instagram account.

Of course, it is a joke, but you have to admit that he is really good at it, even at a weight of over 140 kilograms...
