Professional bodybuilder Hidetada Yamagishi ended his competitive career

The 48-year-old Japanese bodybuilder, Hidetada Yamagishi, made his debut on the professional stage for the first time in 2005 during the Ironman Pro, where he finished in second place and that launched his career. In 2007 Yamagishi managed to qualify for the Olympia where he took 13th place. It wasn't until 2010 that Yamagishi won his first professional show at the Europa Show of Champions.

In 2014 Hidetada Yamagishi moved up to the 212 division and won the Tampa Pro that same year, one of only five wins he achieved in his career. He has competed ten times at Mr. Olympia. His biggest moment came in 2016 when he won the Arnold Classic in the under 212lbs division.

Yamagishi hasn't competed since 2020 and has been thinking about retirement for a couple of years, which he confirmed in a recent interview.

"Yes, I am retired. I did everything I wanted to do. The last gig I had was in 2000. During the preparation, I knew it would be my last show.

Hidetada Yamagishi currently lives in Las Vegas and co-owns the Powerhouse gym with Iris Kyle, who has won 10 times at Ms. Olympia.
