Portugal Pro 2019 - Mohamed Shaaban dominated the tragically organized and refereed competition
The Portuguese city of Estoril, located near the capital Lisbon, hosted the second edition of the Portugal Pro competition organised under the banner of Jim Manion's IFBB Professional League yesterday, Sunday 21 July.
On the podium of this event were competitors competing in the Men's Open bodybuilding, including three Czechs, Lukáš Osladil, Milan Šádek and Slavoj Bednář.
The trio of our fighters, given their results so far this season, should have been one of the biggest favourites for the triumph. However, the course of the competition was completely unexpected.
The fact that the competition would not go as smoothly as it does elsewhere was already indicated by the disastrous organization, when the competitors waited for long hours before their turn came at all.
Our trio, for example, chose to wait for long hours outside the hall, where it was not only quieter than indoors, but also a far more bearable environment.
The competition was very important especially for the pair Osladil - Šádek, who wanted to secure the qualification for Mr. Olympia. It was the second to last chance to secure a ticket for the Olympia Weekend. The very last one will be the Wings of Strength Yamamoto Nutrition Tampa Pro in 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, all three of our fighters somehow got left behind!
Everyone expected that at least the pair of Lukas Osladil and Milan Sadeq would appear immediately in the first semifinal comparison. However, the judges chose the six of Samson Dauda, Mohamed Shaaban, Iain Valliere, Lukas Wyler, Florian Poirson and Lukáš Osladil. Milan Šádek should definitely have been there as well.
Unfortunately, Milan did not appear in the second comparison, where the judges chose the seven of Henri-Pierre Ano, Samson Dauda, Boyan Ivanov, Dani Kaganovich, Andrea Presti, Ole Kristian Vaaga and Lukas Wyler.
Our third fighter on the podium, Slavoj Bednar, commented on this fact very nicely and wrote on his Facebook profile:
I didn't look at him (meaning Milan Šádek, editor's note) lightly when they didn't take him in the first callout, and when they didn't take him in the second callout either, I realized that what's fucked up here is not just the organization and the background!!
It doesn't deserve another comment!!!
Milan appeared alongside Slavoj only in the third comparison, in which they were followed by a seven-man group consisting of Manuel Canadillas, Camilo Diaz, Sergio Lima, Alexandre Nataf, Sergei Zebald, Dan Cristian and Raphael Chevallier.
Mohamed Shaaban took the triumph home to Kuwait. Although he offered quite a balanced figure, his form was significantly behind our Osladil!
Lukáš Osladil had to settle for second place. Although he was not 100% ready, he clearly beat his opponent not only in form, but also in symmetry and volume. Not only the fans present in the hall, but also the other competitors agree.
Lukáš is currently in the second place of the qualification ranking and is very close to participating in the Olympia Weekend.
Third place was taken by Iain Valliere. His final form was adversely affected by the flyover from Canada, where he held more water in his subcutaneous tissue and was not as sharp as his rivals.
Florian Poirson took an excellent fourth place in his professional debut. With a very nice shape and impressive volume, Florian headed among the elite after joining Olympia Amateur Portugal, where he not only dominated the over 102 kg category, but also became the overall winner.
Samson Dauda was the last to make it to the Top 5.
Milan Šádek deserved the eighth place according to the judges. His form was very good, according to many people the same as at the New York Pro, where he finished third.
Incomprehensible 14th place was awarded by the judges to Slavoj Bednar, who was certainly in the form of his life! He, besides the above quote about the competition, said:
So it took me a while to get my head straight and to figure out how to comment on it. But what can I say... I guess it's obvious to all of you, and if I described the day to you, FB probably wouldn't take it.
And I don't want to complain here and I won't!!! Just friends, this was in a word a mockery!! The behaviour of the organisers, the facilities, the organisation ZERO!!
The refereeing? ZERO!!!
