New York Pro 2018 - results

Yesterday, Saturday, May 19, the next edition of the New York Pro was held at the Westchester County Center in New York City. The event has been going strong since 1978, when it was called Night of Champions until 2005.

Its stage belonged to the heavyweights from the OPEN category as well as their lighter counterparts from the 212lb division. In both of these categories we had our representatives, namely Milan Šádek in OPEN and Vojta Koritenský in 212.

How did they do? About that already the following lines.

OPEN category:

26 fighters were on the podium. Milan Šádek was among them.

Amix Nutrition team member Milan Šádek had a very good start to this season, as he appeared right away in the first semifinal comparison alongside the five of Nathan DeAsha, Jonathan Delarosa, Josh Wade, Juan Morel and Luis Rodriguez.
He was fighting for a place in the Top 5!

For the second comparison, the foursome of Wade, Delarosa, Rodriguez and Shadek remained on the podium and were complemented by the pair of Lionel Beyeke and Rafael Brandao.
It was so obvious that the duo of Nathan DeAsha and Juan Morel were fighting for the win.

Nathan DeAsha was the winner of his third victory of his professional career. He qualified directly for the Mr. Olympia competition, where he could certainly improve on his seventh place last year.
He was led to victory by his full and round muscles, which looked monstrous, especially in frontal poses. In the back stances it was not such a hit parade, and Juan Morel had the upper hand here.

Sure enough, the fit-for-life Juan Morel, who managed to dominate the New York Pro in 2015, finished second. However, he was not disappointed with his placing. He was happy with his form and congratulated the winning Nathan. He said he would be back on the podium again soon to ensure his participation in the Olympia Weekend.

Third place went to Luis Rodriguez. His arms were a particular highlight and were among the best across the entire starting field.

Josh Wade , the "double" of Dorian Yates, was able to fight his way to a very good fourth place .

Fifth was Jonathan Delarosa. His form has been on a downward trend and so he has little in common with what he used to offer at the beginning of his professional career.

Sixth place was taken by Rafael Brandao, who presents classic, and very pleasing lines. If he maintains his symmetry, and continues to push his performance, we can certainly expect very good placings from him.

Milan Šádek had to settle for seventh place in the end, although he was in sixth place after the semi-final battles. However, he need not be disappointed at all! He left behind not only many big names like Max Charles, Lionel Beyeke or Manuel Romero, but also a very good impression with the judges!
A symmetrical figure, full and rounded muscles, these were his strengths! It is obvious that the stress relief of the "unnecessary" weight cut to the 212lb category limit had a very positive effect on him, and he is certainly a full-fledged contender in the OPEN category. If he can pack more pounds of muscle onto his frame during the following volume training, he will surely be a threat to other fighters as well!

Eighth place went to Lionel Beyeke. At the beginning of his professional career, he was predicted to have a great future, but as he starts, less and less is expected of him. So far he hasn't been able to use his potential in the slightest.

The aforementioned Manuel Romero took the 14th place. His form was not good at all.

Categories up to 212 pounds:

23 fighters participated in the 212 weight class, and the Czech Republic had a representative among them, as Vojtech Koritensky competed here.

Unfortunately, Vojta was not one of the favourites for the top places, as it was usual during his previous performances.

For the first semi-final call-up the judges chose the six of Ahmad Ahmad, John Jewett, Justin Randall, Ahmed Wardany, Shaun Clarida and Zane Watson.
It was between the pair of Clarida and Watson that the winner was expected to be decided.

The Czech pro stood alongside the foursome of Silvio Samuel, Justin Randall, Kerith Bajjo and John Jewett in the second heat. He was fighting for 7th to 11th place.

In the end, the smallest man in the starting field, Shaun Clarida, was able to enjoy the triumph. At 157 centimetres, he proved once again that height means nothing if you have a nice shape and can arrive at the competition in excellent form!
His strengths were especially his round and full muscles.

Second place went to Zane Watson, who was one of the tallest among the competitors. His physique is symmetrical, and he also has excellent muscle hardness.
If the two had swapped places, no one would have had the slightest objection.

Ahmed Wardany took third place. He is showing ever improving form from competition to competition and it is only a matter of time before he is one of the top in this division!

Fourth place was earned by Mahmoud Al Durrah, who managed to come into the final in much better form than he offered during the semi-final battles.

Ahmad Ahmad, who is one of the fighters offering excellent proportions, also made it into the Top 5.

" Vojtech Koritensky earned the ninth place for his performance from the judges. It is hard to guess what the judges did not like about Vojt's physique, but since the fighters between 7th and 11th place were really evenly matched, there was probably no key for their result placement.
