Mr. Olympia 2019 - what did the semi-final fights offer?
Las Vegas' Orleans Arena hosted the semifinal bouts of the 55th annual Mr. Olympia competition early this morning. As is customary, it is the semifinals that will tell the story of how the competition will unfold. It was no different in this case!
Long before the contest, the names Brandon Curry, Dexter Jackson, Roelly Winklaar and William Bonac were being bandied about in the wake of winning the Mr. Olympia title. When Hadi Choopan announced his participation in Mr. Olympia, he was immediately added to the list!
The above was immediately confirmed by the first semi-final call-up, in which the judges chose the above five. This was completed by Steve Kuclo! He thus fulfilled his dream, which he mentioned during yesterday's conference.
In the middle of the line, which means a battle for the victory, the pairs Winklaar - Bonac, Curry - Bonac and Curry - Choopan were successively replaced. Since none of them came up short, their duel is still open!
Our Lukas Osladil was on his way to a very good result! He appeared in the second call alongside Cedric McMillan, Luke Sando and Akim Williams, thus entering the fight for the Top 10!
The third call before the judges was completed by the six of Jonathan Delarosa, Juan Morel, Max Charles, Michael Lockett, Patrick Moore and Mohamad Shaaban.
When our very own Lukas Osladil reappeared on stage, alongside Dexter Jackson, Steve Kuck and Akim Williams in the fourth invocation, it was obvious that he was on his way to not a very good result, but a fantastic one! For he is fighting for a top 8 finish!
Lukas Osladil in the battle for the TOP 8:
The last invocation was a duel of TOP 4! It featured Roelly Winklaar, Brandon Curry, William Bonac and Hadi Choopan.
The latter, Hadi Choopan, may be the lightest fighter on the stage, weighing in at a maximum of 100 kg, but even so, in terms of bulk, he doesn't lose to his opponents in the slightest!
He doesn't even lose to the best in terms of finishing and detail, overshadowing the likes of Brandon Curry and Roelly Winklaar!
It was Roelly who competed at the Olympia last year in much better form than he is this year. He is indeed monstrous, but his muscles are far too soft, and lack much detail!
In what many consider to be lifetime form, William Bonac is competing here. The highlight of the entire starting field is his biceps pose from behind!
Brandon Curry is certainly in the form of his life here ! He offers full and round muscles, fantastic double biceps from the front, and massive back muscles.
He has some shortcomings in his final preparation, where he is being crushed by the Choopan - Bonac pairing for now!
Top 4 fight:
Many believed that Dexter Jackson could fight his way to his second Mr. Olympia title here. While he looks fantastic at 50, he lacked his legendary sharpness. Moreover, he has not worked on controlling his abdominal muscles, which create a "pregnant belly button" when he transitions between poses, which is not a good look!
However, the final, which you can watch early tomorrow morning at 04:00 HERE, is still open!
