KO Squad Pro 2021 - Regan Grimes wins his second professional title!

On Sunday 31 October, the Egyptian city of Cairo became the venue for the first ever professional competition held in this transcontinental country! The first edition of the KO Squad Pro competition, organized under the banner of the IFBB Jim Manion Professional League, took place here, where both representatives of the Open category and their colleagues with a maximum weight limit of 212 pounds got the opportunity to compete.

We'll take a look below, via a few lines, at how the fighters competing in both of these categories fared, despite the fact that, unfortunately, there isn't much in the way of available material.

Open category

A total of twelve fighters lined up among the heavyweights, with no less than eight of them coming from Egypt. It was a direct honour for the local fighters to be able to present themselves on home territory in front of their home crowd!

Immediately for the first semi-final comparison, the judges chose the home fighters, who were Mohamed El Emam, Mohamed Foda, Hamada Ahmed, Khaled Awny, Mohamed Shaaban and Mahmoud Negm. The judges added to this six with the pair of Samson Dauda and Regan Grimes. In the middle of the line, the pair Grimes - El Emam emerged as the winner.

The second comparison consisted of the rest of the starting field, plus the pair of Hamada Ahmed and Mahmoud Negm from the first comparison.

The third comparison shed much more light on how the competition could develop. In that one, the five of Regan Grimes, Mohamed El Emam, Samson Dauda, Mohamed Shaaban and Mohamed Foda battled it out. The Grimes - El Emam duo posed in the middle of the line, but they were eventually replaced by Dauda!

In addition to these fighters, two-time Mr. Olympia title holder Mamdouh Elssbiay also appeared on stage during the final part of the competition. However, he did not compete here but, as the biggest star of the house, he gave an exhibition performance.

Mamdouh Elssbiay - exhibiční vystoupení na KO Squad Pro 2021

The second professional victory, as you already know from us, was finally enjoyed by Regan Grimes.

He improved his mood a bit, which was spoiled by his second place finish at the Legion Sports Fest Pro 2021, which he had to settle for last weekend after being beaten by 157 cm tall and 80 kg Shaun Clarida.

With enough time, he secured his qualification for Mr. Olympia 2022! So under the guidance of coach Milos Sarchev, he has a whole year to pack on even more kilograms of muscle mass to his frame and be competitive with his rivals at this bodybuilding festival.

The second place, surprisingly, was taken by Mohamed Shaaban. Although he was powerful, the question remains, in the eyes of the judges, how was he better than Samson Dauda in third or Mohamed El Emam in fourth?

Mohamed Foda, who is training under the supervision of renowned trainer Hany Rambod, also managed to break into the Top 5 on his professional debut.

By the way, the duo of Regan Grimes and Sanson Dauda will be in Prague this coming weekend for the EVLS Prague Pro 2021, where they will be among the opponents of our fighters Peter Beran, Honza Turk and Slavoj Bednar!

Categories up to 212 pounds

Just like in the Open category, there were twelve competitors in the lighter weight category, most of whom, as expected, were local competitors. Among them was this year's 212 Olympia participant Ahmed Wardany.

Wardany, together with Samir Troudi, was one of the few known fighters in the starting field.

It is not surprising that the judges immediately chose the two mentioned above for the first semi-final comparison, in which they were joined by the six of Abdullah Al Saif, Pasquale D'Angelo, Mohamed Salah, Ahmed Bat, Wael Mohamed Amin and Mohamed Khaled Embaby.

The latter emerged as a big favourite during the semi-final bouts, despite the fact that it was his first professional start. In fact, in the aforementioned comparison, he posed in the middle of the row right next to Wardany!

When he then posed in the middle of the row during the third semi-final and then during the final comparison, which included Wardany, Mohamed Salah, Pasquale D'Angelo and Wael Mohamed Amin, it was already more than clear that he was not only going for the win, but also for direct qualification for the 212 Olympia 2022 competition!

Indeed, that's what happened in the end, and Embaby dominated his first home professional show in his first professional start! This gives him a year to prepare for the biggest and most prestigious bodybuilding feast, the Olympia Weekend, which is currently dominated by his countryman Mamdouh Elssbiay!

The second place was taken by Wardany, while the third place was taken by Mohamed Salah, another of the professional newcomers in the starting field.

Fourth place went to Pasquale D'Angelo, and Wael Mohamed Amin, who made his professional debut in the Top 5 thanks to his triumph at the Olympia Amateur Egypt.
