Jiří Tkadlčík set a new Czech record and won another European title!

During the Sunday of August 11.8.2019, another, unprecedented for us, sports holiday took place in the Czech Republic. Jiří Tkadlčík and his wife Valerie Mirić Tkadlčíková organized an international strongman competition in Přerov. And it was not just any competition, it was the European Ultimate Strongman Championship u105kg. This is the second competition this year that this couple organized! On 23.6.2019 they held theWORLD GRAND PRIX U105, which was in the spirit and memory of Gustav Fristensky, who was one of our best wrestlers and strongman of all time.

Around 3000 spectators came to this spectacular show to support the strongmen ! The competitors were not only from the Czech Republic, but also from Poland, Austria, Ukraine, Slovakia and even Ireland.

Disciplines

After the opening ceremony the competitions started with the first discipline - Super yoke 410kg / 15m, back carry 130kg sandbag and unload on the table (1.2m). The close trio of winners were Vitalii Mikheiev from Ukraine, Przemyslaw Marczewski from Poland and the local Jiri Tkadlcik. Czech Petr Pastýřík was also in the top five .

In the second discipline it was about moving and lifting a giant one-handed bar... The starting weight was 90kg, gradually it was increased to 100, then to 110kg , but only Marczewski and Tkadlcik got to 110kg , who after agreement with the referee,, had the one-handed bar loaded to 122kg (122.05kg exactly), to try to break theofficial Czech record in the one-handed stroke.

The Pole Przemyslaw easily moved the one-handed on his shoulder, unfortunately, despite the cramp in his hand, he could not get to the pressure anymore, and thus recorded the final 110kg. Tkadlcik actuallylifted the 122kg barbell with one hand in front of the home crowd and the referee, and thus not only recorded a valid attempt, but also a new Czech record!

Jirka Tkadlcik's statement on social network instagram. I think it's up to 130kg, but sometimes you need to save your sleeve !!! That was the atmosphere, when you have 3,000 people screaming at you, it just lifts better!

The third discipline tested the strongmen in deadlifts(Deadlift medley). These were a 300kg fat axle, a 320kg classic axle and a 340kg long elephant axle .The thick axle bar did not cause the competitors much difficulty, but only half of the competitors overcame 320kg on the classic axle, and only Tkadlcik, together with second Emanuel Pescari from Austria and third Vitaly Mikheiev from Ukraine, managed the tricky elephant bar.

The fourth discipline (Super Medley) was called "Hell" by the competitors. You wonder why? You will understand.. Super Medley: Atlas 130kg unload on table (1.2m), trunks 135kg on 15m, hussafel 145kg on 15m, deadlift 285kg / 1 rep, loglift 135kg / 1 rep. Even with the first event some competitors had a problem as wax was banned to better catch and hold the concrete ball. Only 4 competitors overcame the deadlift and only JirkaTkadlčíků and Przemyslaw from Poland managed to get the big wooden log above their heads .

The last discipline Viking Press was to test the competitors in their pushing power. Strongmen had to create as many valid reps as possible with 180kg. Czech colours reigned supreme in this discipline as the 3 strongest in this discipline were Pastýřík (10op), Tkadlčík (12op) and Kahánek (13op)!

And how does Jirka evaluate his participation in the competitions and what does he plan for the future?

I am happy. I was hoping that more strongmen would come, I missed guys from Russia, England, I would have liked to have a bigger battle, but the season is long, we are all kind of injured and tired, so I'm glad that it was successful and I can rest a little bit", Tkadlcik confided and when asked what he is planning now, he replied with a laugh. But I will never give it to me, so I'm going to go to the Czech Republic Middleweight Championship in Kladno on September 14th, which I'm going to go from training, more to get the other guys from the Czech Republic pumped up, and then we'll just hike in the mountains and relax a bit, our daughter will be born in the autumn, and I want to be home for everything!
