Jim Manion, President of the IFBB Professional League, also commented on the Shawn Rhoden case?
As you may already know from us, the reigning Mr. Olympia titleholder, Shawn Rhoden, was charged Thursday, July 11, with rape and sexual assault, which he is alleged to have committed last October 12.
American Media, Inc. (AMI), the wholly owned and operated Mr. Olympia, reacted very strongly and immediately to the case. Effective immediately, Shawn Rhoden has been stripped of his lifetime right to compete in Mr. Olympia!
Jim Manion, President of the IFBB Professional League, also commented on the case, stating:
July 14, 2019:
"The IFBB Professional League has taken no action either for or against Shawn Rhoden at this time. Based on the recommendations of our attorneys, we will closely monitor the situation while respecting the rights of the accuser, the accused and the company that owns and operates the prestigious Mr. Olympia competition.
These are difficult and emotional times for all involved."
July 15, 2019:
"After attorneys confirmed the seriousness of the criminal charges brought against Shawn Rhoden late last week, the IFBB Professional League understands and respects the decision by David Pecker (AMI CEO, editor's note) and AMI to remove Shawn Rhoden's right to compete at Mr. Olympia in 2019.
