On Sunday, November 17, Tokyo hosted the second edition of the Japan Pro competition, promoted by the highly experienced professional bodybuilder Hidetada Yamagishi.

At the last Open category competition of the season, a total of 20 heavyweights, with Cedric McMillan and Juan Morel as the biggest favourites to win , were in the fight for a direct qualification to Mr. Olympia 2020 and some points in the qualification rankings.

Cedric came to Japan as the winner of two autumn competitions, namely Fit Parade Pro Grand Prix 2019 and Wings of Strength Romania Muscle Fest Pro 2019.

Seven fighters, including the aforementioned Cedric, were immediately selected by the judges for the pro semi-final comparisons. They were Max Charles, Juan Morel, An Nguyen, Regan Grimes, Cody Montgomery, Lee Seung Chul and the aforementioned McMillan.
In the middle of the line, Regan Grimes posed in a surprising way and seemed to be the one considered the winner by the judges.

When the judges then asked for the trio of Grimes, McMillan and Morel for the last comparison, which they then filmed on Matejska, both the spectators and the competitors had their heads in a twist, and therefore nobody, except the judges, had the slightest idea who would take the triumph.

The last semi-final comparison

The seventh professional triumph of his career finally went to Juan Morel. He made Cedric's defeat, which he had to accept in Romania at the beginning of the month, all the more satisfying.
Juan found the recipe for excellent form this time, and managed to come out much sharper than he had been so far in the season.

Second place was therefore taken by McMillan. He, as mentioned in the beginning of the article, had not the slightest need for disappointment, having not only scored two victories in the autumn, but of course also a direct qualification for Mr. Olympia 2020.

A very respectable third place went to Regane Grimes. Although this 26-year-old fighter is losing to his rivals in terms of muscle mass, he is making up for it all with really great form!

Cody Montgomery came in an excellent fourth place after a four year break from competition. His strengths were his famous quadriceps.

The massive An Nguyen made his way into the top 5.
