"It wasn't the real Ramy we know," said IFBB judge Steve Weinberger
There is often speculation as to why this year's Mr. Olympia. Big Ramy finished in fifth place. He was unable to build on his previous success in 2020 and 2021, when he dominated this prestigious competition.
After the competition, Ramy told his fans the following:
"I promise you that I will do everything I can to be stronger than ever again. I don't promise to win or lose, I respect the other competitors. But I will say that I will do my best to be number 1 again."
Big Ramy | Mr. Olympia 2022

The reason why Big Ramy finished in fifth place was also evaluated by IFBB head judge Steve Weinberger in an interview for Olympia TV.
"It was a big disappointment. His legs were not what they should have been. His back wasn't what it should have been. His conditioning was off. His body parts weren't right. Honestly, he didn't look like the Ramy of 2020, more like the Ramy of 2021, only in worse shape. He came in even worse.
The Ramy of 2021 and 2022 was not the Ramy we know. I don't know if he has a back or shoulder injury, but there are issues somewhere. I don't know what it is, but something is not right."
