"I'm not the type of person who would just go for a try," says bikini Kateřina Vomáčková
The Olympia Amateur Eastern Europe in Romania is one of the biggest amateur NPC events where it is possible to get a professional card. Katerina Vomáčková took part in these spectacular competitions, for whom it was her first competition in the NPC federation. For those of you who don't know, Kateřina did the race with flying colours, winning three first places!
A week after competing in Romania, she competed on the home scene at EVLS Prague Amateur 2022, where she managed to win a great second place in her category. In this interview, we will take a look at how she enjoyed both competitions and how she evaluates her results.
Hi Katerina, you took part in Olympia Amateur Eastern Europe at the end of August, where you debuted in the NPC federation, how was the experience for you?
Hi, it was an unforgettable experience for me. I have admired the NPC federation since I started competing, mainly because of the great preparation of the competitors. This year I decided to make this big dream of mine come true, as I wanted to challenge myself and most importantly prove to myself that I have what it takes to prepare this well.
Why did you choose this particular competition and not go for a smaller one to start with?
Because I think that if we set goals, we shouldn't let our own fear of failure discourage us and we should try something that scares us at first. Personally, I was terrified by the idea of standing at such a huge NPC and racing outside the country for the first time, but something told me it would be a great decision and that I would have no regrets. Anyway, this big competition was chosen for me by my coach Antonín Moravec because he trusted me so much and I am now incredibly grateful to him for that.
What goals did you go to the races with? Did you expect to be able to get first place three times?
I went to the races mainly to gain experience in a new federation and to win my novice height category. I'm not going to lie, I'm not a "just go for it" kind of person, I always want to give 100% in my preparation. Winning the novice was absolutely amazing, but winning the absolute was an even better feeling since I never had the opportunity to even fight in the absolute, let alone win it. After that, my friend and I told ourselves that we had to fight even in the high jump with experienced competitors and not let anything discourage us and inu, it turned out to be a wonderful first place again.
How did the races affect you and how did you like them?
Honestly, I was impressed with how beautifully everything went. It went off at registration, everything felt so professional and the people there were so nice. The day of the competition went smoothly. They gave us about 30 minutes notice before we took the stage, which I haven't seen happen at other competitions. Everything was more or less on schedule and there was plenty of room backstage for the competitors. I also especially appreciated the fresh air and fans before we took the podium. I just felt great there.

Did you go to the races alone or did someone travel with you?
I flew to the races with my boyfriend Jakub, who helped me in everything, not only at the races, but every single day of my preparation. He was the one who helped me in the beginning of my training, when I understood early on what hard training means and I didn't stay with the rubber band on my butt. I am very grateful to him for that and I look forward to seeing what else we can do together.
You made it all the way to the super finals in Romania where you could have even gotten a pro card, weren't you nervous?
I didn't feel nervous, I really enjoyed the whole competition day, even though it was more time consuming. It was probably the first competition where I went without the slightest self-doubt, and I owe that mostly to my friend and coach. To have the opportunity to compare myself with the winners of my height categories was a great honour for me, because the winners of the proficiencies were really perfectly prepared.

A week after your return from Bucharest you competed in Prague at the amateur EVLS, where you were beaten by Anna Faltová. How do you think Anna was better than you?
Yes, that's right. I don't think it was preparation, because my form was better at the EVLS than at Olympia. But I looked more muscular next to Anna, which is probably what the judges didn't want in the bikini. Hold here you can see that every time it can be decided a little differently. Looking back at the comparison photos, I have to admit that the separation of her buttocks and hamstrings was more pronounced, her waist looked narrower in the front pose, and overall she gave a more petite impression, which was obviously desirable.
How did you find competing on the home stage?
I raced well here as I met many nice people in person and most importantly had a great team here to help me with everything. Namely my friend Jakub, my best friend Lucy and my coach Tonda. Otherwise I was quite disappointed with the overall organization of the competition and the attitude towards the competitors, but we created a great atmosphere despite that.

If you compare the races in Romania and here, which one did you like better?
I liked the races in Romania better, mainly because of the overall attitude towards the competitors, as I felt that they really respected us. But what I was really excited about here was the incredible support from the people in the stands, because that's very valuable to me.
Katerina, we thank you so much for the interview, have a great day and keep up the good work!
I also thank you so much and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with you, have a great day!
