"I don't want to take risks, I also have to think about life after strongman," JF Caron's career ends?
About a month ago, one of the biggest strongman events took place - Arnold Strongman Classic 2022. Canadian strongman JF Caron was invited to this competition, but he got injured during the third discipline - when he was lifting a log lift, he hurt his quadriceps and ankle. Caron is now learning to walk again, which he describes as very painful and challenging. He has lost over 60 pounds in the process because he can do almost no physical activity. Caron now weighs around 130 kg (286 lbs). With all these setbacks in a short time frame, Caron explained that this injury will likely force him to retire....
"I don't want to risk it... You also have to think about life after Strongman... I've been doing massive squats and Strongman events for 20 years, but there's a price to pay."
JF Caron has built a career that puts him among the greats of the strongman sport. In a career that began in 2008, he has competed 12 times on the World's Strongest Man circuit. His best finish came in 2020, when he placed third. Although he has never won a WSM title, he is one of the best strongmen in the world.
