Honza Krasinský, aka Anabolic Horse at the Czech National Strongman Championships 2019 - report with results!

During the September Saturday 7.9.2019 in Osek u Duchcov was held open strongman championship 2019, which was organized by one of the competitors - Michal Tichý. Čestmír Šíma, Pavel Zadražil, Filip Urban, Josef Grmolec, Jaroslav Švejda, Jan Krasinský, Matouš Fritsch, David Štrombach and Jiří Žaloudek. The races were a bit unconventional, they were held on a football field. Anyway, it did not detract from the quality of the races. The spectators could watch the performances of the strongmen from the nearby grandstand, which offered plenty of simplicity and comfort. The only thing that did not favour the strongmen was the weather. The summer tropics were replaced by crisp autumn weather.

You can also look forward to a short interview with Honza Krasinski in our report !

We asked a newcomer to the sport , Honza Krasinski, aka Anabolic Horse, a few questions about the competition.

MČR strongmanů 2019

Hi Honza, tell us, how did you get to such a prestigious competition as the World Strongman Championships?

Hi, hello everyone. I got an invitation from Michal Tichy, who organized the competition. We have known each other for a long time, and after my participation in Asha he counted on me, which is an honor for me, because I am not an OPEN PRO STRONGMAN.

Is there anything that limited you at the races?

The only thing that limits me is my head! I've had a hell of a season and they say you have to stop at the best of times! That's one thing I'm not very good at , if my body would let me I would race non stop! So the fatigue has been noticeable, otherwise nothing limits me, in the year I've been trying to do strongman sport I've managed to learn a few disciplines and I've also discovered what really doesn't suit me. So now I'll take a breather, focus on my weaknesses and try to fix it next year.

You ended up finishing seventh. Do you take that as a success or is it the other way around?

I'm a person who loves sports and is involved in both lifting and the newer strongman sport. I'm a beginner, so every place among the pros is a success for me!!! Now just to train and push that placement to better and better ranks.

How did you like the race?

I didn't feel completely on top, but I enjoyed the races! That's what I love about strongman sport, the atmosphere and rivalry is just great! I don't even know myself how I got amongst the monsters, but I was accepted and treated great by everyone. So a bunch of people arrive and as soon as the nervousness subsides, it's a blast, and the rockets are falling!! I'm enjoying the races more than the triathlon.

Rumour has it that you're not planning any more races this year, so could you give us a recap of your season - races & results?

This race was already over the line. Now I'm facing the birth of my son, so my focus is going in a different direction, I want to rest and ease off the scales to be ready for next year when I want to push my limits a bit further! 2019 is probably one of the best years of my life in terms of family, career, and strength progression. I'm most happy about my participation in Asha, where I finished 4th. And right after that, I PR'd the 355kg deadlift at the Louny competition. I narrowly missed the 900kg total in the triathlon. In addition to that I have run some OCR competitions! A lot of things fell, but everything is still in its infancy, so you have something to look forward to!

This is how one of our best strongman - Čestmír Šíma - expressed his opinion about the competition on his social media :

Yesterday I participated in the Czech strongman championship in Osek and I took 2nd place after the home competitor and organizer of the race Michal Tichý. It was a tough race and the disciplines were not really playing into my hands, so I take the result kind of ok, although of course I wanted to win, but that's what I always want and I never go to competitions knowing that 2nd place is enough for me.

MČR strongmanů 2019

First up was the barbell expression from the rack where I registered 165kg, which was ok considering my sore shoulder and was one of the better performances. Second up was the deadlift with 330kg per rep, here I put in 4 reps which I think was 3rd place. Trunks 2x155kg for 20m came next and here the times were pretty even, but despite not being a runner, again one of the better times. Next was the super youk 450kg over 20m and my first event win, where I was the only competitor to carry the weight to the finish. And then came the 5th discipline and the end of hopes. It was carrying loads (a tyre, a barrel and a sandbag each weighing about 110kg) over 20m and here I went down with the sandbag about 2m before the finish and before I could get up and run to the finish I lost a lot of time and therefore points. The last was 8 450kg tyre flips for time, where I recorded my second event win, finishing 2nd overall.
