Flex Wheeler underwent shoulder surgery that didn't go as he hoped...

This October it will be two years since the legendary bodybuilding competitor from the 1990s, Flex Wheeler, underwent a leg amputation. As harrowing as this news may sound for Flex, it was partly liberation as he suffered excruciating pain due to the hardening of his arteries.

I would like to thank all my fans and fellow bodybuilding fans for your prayers and support during this difficult time for me and my family. Surgery was necessary due to escalating circulatory problems in my right leg that became life threatening.I am now resting comfortably and have begun rehabilitation.I would also like to thank my excellent medical team for their treatment and care.

Any other information, interviews and articles regarding my health, treatment progress or current condition are mere speculation and unwarranted!!!I will keep you informed of my progress through updates on my social media.

A year after his leg amputation, Wheeler had to go back to the hospital because he was hospitalized for a bad case of Covid-19. In the hospital, his lungs stopped working properly and doctors explained to Flex that he needed to come off the medication he was taking for his kidneys (Flex had a kidney transplant in 2003) so that his lungs could recover properly. Wheeler agreed to this decision even though he may have put his kidneys at risk. But it didn't, and Flex was able to recover and overcome the disease completely.

But he recently returned to a hospital setting again, where he decided to undergo repeat rotator cuff surgery on his left shoulder. However, this "trivial" procedure did not go as he expected and this great former racer is once again in great pain.

AGAIN left shoulder surgery... rotator cuff surgery. It was supposed to be an outpatient procedure. But they can't get my pain under control so I'm still lying here in the hospital. Jesus, the amount of pain I'm experiencing and the amount of pain I've gone through over the years is really just mind bending.
