Five-time Reebok CrossFit Games winner Mathew Fraser has retired from competition

Last year's Reebok CrossFit Games 2020, the most prestigious CrossFit competition, was one of those events that had to constantly move and change its rules due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. In the end, the organizers found a date and conditions that were acceptable for everyone and the races were able to take place. Well, the races... Only the top ten athletes/athletes made it to the finals:

  • Mathew Fraser
  • Samuel Kwant
  • Justin Medeiros
  • Noah Ohlsen,
  • Jeffrey Adler
  • Tia-Clair Toomey
  • Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir
  • Kari Pearce
  • Haley Adams
  • Brooke Wells

One of the competitors at last year's Games was Mathew Fraser, who won four World's Best CrossFitter titles between 2016 and 2019, matching the feat of CrossFit legend Rich Froning, who also won four titles (2011-2015) and it was at the 2020 Reebok CrossFit Games that Mathew won his fifth title, becoming the best CrossFitter in history.

And it seems that this milestone, which Mat achieved last year, was the last competitive feat he achieved at professional CrossFit level, as two days ago Mathew Fraser announced the end of his competitive career!

Today I leave the sport older, wiser, fitter and grateful

However, it's not that Fraser is quitting CrossFit, he's just leaving the racing career. How Mat will get involved in the CrossFit community, however, is a question no one knows the answer to yet.
