What is the life of a bodybuilder in volume? Jordan Hutchinson has spoken out about the negatives!
If you have ever been attracted to competitive bodybuilding, you know that open bodybuilding, where there is no weight or weight limit, gains the most prestige at all kinds of competitions. It has undergone many significant transformations since its beginnings, when in the beginning the aesthetic curves of competitors with slim waists dominated the scene, gradually evolving into the monstrous volumes offered by Ronnie Coleman, Dorian Yates or Jay Cutler.
Since the size of all muscle parts is still an integral part of bodybuilding, bodybuilders try to find appropriate ways to achieve it. And in the volume phases, it's not infrequent that they get over the imaginary 300-pound mark, or about 136 kilograms. This is also the case for Jordan Hutchinson, a successful American bodybuilder who is currently in his third season among the pros. He shared his woes on Instagram, from where the video came to the attention of YouTube channel Tiger Fitness, which analyzed the whole thing in detail.
Jordan uploaded a short video to his Instagram with a pithy caption:
"Welcome to my 300lb life. Bodybuilding isn't always pretty, and certainly not in the off-season. I hope you laugh at my discomfort."
Taking the video, which you can watch below, the young bodybuilder has issues with mobility, breathing, excessive sweating in the gym, and the massive amount of food he has to eat.

But perhaps the biggest uproar was caused by the fact that Jordan is wearing a device called CPAP ( continuous positive airway pressure), which helps to oxygenate the blood when he goes to bed and when he gets up. This is what the aforementioned Tiger Fitness commented on, among other things. In his YouTube video he quite aptly stated:
"I know a lot of people use CPAP. But I can't imagine having such trouble getting out of bed. Having abdominal cramps, having trouble putting my socks on... That's the sacrifice bodybuilders make. I'm not the kind of person who wants to do that. I would never sacrifice my quality of life.
Can you imagine breathing during a workout when you can't even breathe when you're putting on socks? I don't mean to diss, if you want to be an athlete at this level, of course you have to be able to sacrifice something. But can you imagine not being able to walk up the stairs? To me, that video just looked like hell."
Said Marc Lobliner featured on the Tiger Fitness YouTube channel.
The entire video is over 12 minutes long in total and if you're missing a broader insight into professional bodybuilding, we definitely recommend watching it.
However, both videos show that the life of a professional bodybuilder can be quite challenging and the sport requires some really big sacrifices that athletes have to make.
