Urs Kalecinski will reportedly skip the rest of the season to focus on Mr. Olympia 2027

Looks like "The Miracle Bear" is taking a long break from the stage. According to the latest reports, the popular Urs Kalecinski is unlikely to appear at any competition for the rest of this year and is pointing his plans towards 2027.

Shocking transfer and successful start in the Men's Open

Urs Kalecinski, who gained huge popularity in the Classic Physique category, recently gave the bodybuilding world a big shock with his sudden move to the royal Men's Open division. Quietly behind the curtain, he managed to put on massive bulk and his weight climbed to a respectable 118 kg (261 lbs), a huge leap from his sculpted Classic Physique form.

And the move paid off for him. In his Open debut, Kalecinski dominated and dominated the 2025 Italy Pro. Just a week later he confirmed his form with another win at the Europa Pro Championships. He then scored a respectable 13th place at his first ever Mr. Olympia as an Open competitor.

Fans eagerly awaited to see what show he would be at next, but Urs clearly had other plans.

"Only 2027"

Already on March 14, 2026, the German talent hinted at a possible break. He recently confirmed everything with a very brief but clear message on his Instagram Stories, where he wrote in German only: "Only 2027".

This makes it clear that he will skip the current edition and direct all his training and volume towards the next edition of Mr. Olympia (whose date and venue for 2027 have not yet been set). Gaining quality muscle mass, which is essential for the absolute top in the Open category, simply takes its time.

Will he win the title one day? Legends believe him

The potential of Urs Kalecinski in the heaviest weight class resonates throughout the bodybuilding scene and even the biggest names do not spare praise. Four-time Mr. Olympia titleholder Jay Cutler believes that with the right approach and a little extra muscle mass, Urs can actually win the coveted Sandow statuette one day:

"Just remember, your vision is the end game. I know you want to win it, and I know you believe you can. I've been watching you and I really honestly think that in time you can win the Mr. Olympia at the Open," Cutlertold him.

IFBB judge and commentator Terrick El Guindy shared a similar opinion, calling Kaletinsky a superstar. According to him, Urso's superior preparation, perfect presentation and aesthetics will help him to make it in the Open.

"He's always perfectly chiseled. On top of that, he is one of the best posers from Classic Physique. That's what will set him apart in the Open. He has beautiful lines. He'll just have to add muscle, and he doesn't seem to have the slightest problem with that," said El Guindy.

We'll most likely find out if this extended break will pay off for Kalecinski and what kind of shape he'll show up on stage in 2027. Until then, we're keeping our fingers crossed for his next volume phase!
